Evo drivers/ specialists

I’ve realized that some of you guys have a lot of technical knowledge. I wanted to build a sort of Evo 7 project car. I own a cedia / Lancer GLX and intend to purchase a crashed E7 to install most of the parts from the 7 onto my chassis.

I wanted to install all the mechanical and interior parts (suspension, brakes, axles, diffs, gearbox, trunk, rear fenders, ecu, doors, seats, dash and instrument panel etc.). I’ll be purchasing an engine, intercooler setup, front fenders, lights, bumper and bonnet to replace the damaged ones and I may replace the transfer case just in case.

Essentially, by the time i'm done I hope for it to work almost like and look as much like like an evo as possible, just missing the chassis stiffening and E7 chassis number.

My question is… will it work? Especially with the wider wheelbase, automatic transmission accomodation of my chassis etc.

I’m going to be spending alot so please let me know if it makes sense. Thanks in advance.

^ ^ ^ To answer your questions... YES it can work but the better the base vehicle, the cheaper and easier it is to do... and the better the success rate! Do you have a YEAR or more & PLENTY $$$$ to spare?

Cedia wheelbase is basically identical. "Track width" is different. Evo suspension, front fenders & rear arches take care of that.

Next... the EASIEST part is to "stiffen the chassis." Just search FoamSeal on this forum. Wink

This is what you need to convert a FWD chassis to 4WD... Link--> Lancer 4-Wheel Drive Conversion.

IMHO if your dream is a CHEAP & RELIABLE Evo, then sell your Cedia first...
Right now RBTT has a "$50k loan sale" with NO downpayment... There's your Evo 6 right there. Idea
Now BUY an older (STOCK) Evo 5-6 in good condition and start rebuilding from there.
Then you have ALL the basics... SUSPENSION / BREMBOS / 4G63 & GEARBOX / RIMS etc. etc.
PLUS lighter weight than ANY other later model... so BETTER performance.

IMHO you'll end up with an Evo you want to keep forever, instead of a headache you need to sell quickly. A few are on 3ne 2nr for $100-120k negotiable right now.

If you INSIST on an E7-9, then the biggest issue is starting with the correct BASE VEHICLE.
You NEED a 4wd "Cedia" shell... PERIOD! A FWD shell can be converted... but it requires plenty, CAREFUL fabrication. You also NEED an Evo 7-9 rear-cut for an "undamaged" floor pan, etc, etc.

Personally I will NOT set foot in ANY locally converted FWD-to-4WD chassis... unless I took a couple YEARS to DO IT MYSELF Exclamation ...Right now, I don't feel the need to ride in a 150 mph coffin. Rolling Eyes

My CURRENT swap is a 4wd 1800 GSR into an Evo 6 TME... That's quite enough for me, thanks.
Either way (E6 or E7) buying and restoring a REAL Evo is cheaper and quicker in the long run.
Here's a link that might help... Link--> How To "Evolutionize" your Lancer!
