The High Court has granted leave to the Trinidad and Tobago Automobile Sports Association to challenge the decision by a State company to evict the association from the Wallerfield racing circuit.
The case comes up for hearing on November 11.
Last Friday, Justice Humphrey Stollmeyer granted leave in the San Fernando High Court to the association which is claiming that Evolving Tecknologies and Enterprise Development Company Ltd (ETeck) acted illegally when it ordered it to vacate on September 20.
The legal action as filed by Girwar Deonarine and Company Ltd, argued in court documents that the TTASA was an internationally recognised association with a fan base of 5,000 and which stood to lose millions of dollars if they were evicted.
The attorneys argued that the TTASA had a licence allowing it to use, since 1963, some 150 acres of land at Wallerfield as a motor racing circuit, and that a substantial investment was made to construct buildings and infrastructure on the site.
Government plans setting up a science and technology park at the Wallerfield site.
