Tom Miller...
Didn't he like the "Top Corner" of the Wallerfield Circuit more than the hairpin? To me everyone would pass him on the straights and then he would catch them on the Top Corner, taking it alot faster than anyone else could. I was a bit surprised and puzzled that the hairpin was named in his honour instead...
His daughter also disclosed his love for that corner while going through photos with me, looking for every last one we had of her dad Tom Miller. From the photos we could see that he would be on three wheels "doglegging" coming out of the hairpin and going into the Top Corner. I am pretty sure though that the Top Corner would have been really satisfying for him since he was even able to pass the likes of Tanko Baboolal in his 3rd gen Rx7 there.
I guess the hairpin is the one before the finish. I hope Uncle Tom is resting peacefully... I don't consider myself superstitious but the thought did cross my mind that the lastest round of accidents really centred around the hairpin.
Interesting... |
