Corvette Racing have reasserted their commitment to the American Le Mans Series and say they believe the level of competition in the GT1 class will improve in the future.
The yellow cars had very little opposition in the series in 2007 following Aston Martin's decision not to compete, but Corvette will remain in the series next year.
GM Racing's road racing manager Steve Wesoloski said: "Experience teaches us that motorsport is cyclical, and the GT1 category is currently in transition.
"Would we like to see more competition in GT1 in the ALMS? Absolutely. But in the absence of season-long competition, we are absolutely committed to controlling our own destiny."
The team will continue to race in the series as preparation for the Le Mans 24 Hours, where they were beaten in 2007 by Aston Martin.
"We know that the competition at Le Mans will be intense, and we will use the ALMS to hone the race cars, the drivers, and the team to prepare for it," Wesoloski added.
"We are pushing hard to develop our chassis and powertrain, to refine our race strategy, and to continuously improve every element of our programme."
