Sooo... Is Mitsubishi really as near to death's door as the rumours hint?
Are they really going to leave the troublesome US market?...
Mitsubishi to bail on U.S.?

Mitsubishi has thrown down the gauntlet. If dealers can't sell its new products like the
Outlander and Lancer, the company may pull out of the United States completely.
Mitsubishi's product boss, Shinichi Kurihara said as much at a press event, indicating
that the company's recovery rides on the success of the vehicles. The company is
down 16.5 percent to 36,536 units so far this year, and its Normal, Ill. plant employs
just one shift. Predictably, dealers have responded by urging Mitsubishi brass to open
up their wallets and spend more money on advertising here in the States.
Meanwhile, Mitsubishi's May sales figures just arrived and the company posted a
3.9-percent rise in sales over May of 2005, which follows an even stronger
17.5-percent improvement last month over April of 2005.

Meanwhile across the pond...
Evo X - UK Arrival
Paul Brigden, Ralliart General Manager for Mitsubishi Motors UK, confirms he expects the
Evo X to be on sale in the UK from first Quarter of 2008.
The Evo X will not start production until August 2007 and the UK do not anticipate receiving
any allocation until September 2007 at the earliest. Once in the country the car(s) will
require ESVA, Product Liability testing and also undergo testing for FQ upgrades,
all of which means that the first cars will probably be available in first Quarter of 2008.
Specifications and images of the Evo X are not officially available yet, but the Mitsubishi
Concept-X is rumoured to be the basis of the Evo X. _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |

This very sad bit of news just in from AutoWeek Magazine:
Quote: | Mitsubishi Done
Mitsubishi will not return to the WRC with a new car.
The manufacturers decision brings an end to one of the most successful stories
the series has ever known, with Tommi Makinen clinching a still-unbroken record of
four straight titles from 1996 to 1999.
Mitsubishi was part of the WRC when the series began in 1973, then unexpectedly
withdrew at the end of 2005. The break was meant to be a sabbatical while parent
DaimlerChrysler sorted out its finances, with a return slated for 2009. But now,
company bosses have told the rally team that the withdrawal will be permanent.
So far, there has been no official statement.
Since Mitsubishi pulled out of the WRC in a factory capacity, the British-based rally
team has entered customer cars occasionally on a privateer basis.
Officials from the team hope that some sort of rally activity can be salvaged and
are negotiating with senior management in Tokyo.

Oh well... I suppose "profitability" had the last word. All we have to look forward to now is
a string of "fat cat" executive-class, boring "BMW M3/M5 type" cars from from now on.
... (Oohh!... Sooo "Sporty!")...

It's VERY nice as a daily driver for my wife... but not enough "ballz" to suit me!
I think I'll hold onto my Evo 6 and the E6 Clone for a lot more years to come. |
The Evo X may help to save some face... We'll just have to wait and see.
Performance?... Yup!... but the "Iron Fist" (Evos 1-9) will be wrapped up in so much "Velvet"
(a.k.a. "fluff") that soon people won't remember what it feels like to actually drive a REAL Evo.

RC Developments wrote: | RC Developments are proud to announce that they have been invited to compete in one of
the most prestigious Japanese Tuner Car Events on the motorsport calender; the
Revspeed Tsukuba Super Lap Time Attack!
The 18th Annual Revspeed Tsukuba Super Lap Challenge has been a long running and hugely
popular event in Japan, which has seen Japan's finest car tuners battle it out each year
to find out who is capable of building the quickest circuit car. The event, organised by
Japan's leading car magazine "REVSPEED", takes place on the 6th December 2007.
The Tsukuba Super Lap, in its 18th year, has reached huge popularity from overseas,
and RC Developments are extremely proud to have been one of the very first few selected
UK Tuners to be invited to participate in the competition against the world's greatest
Japanese Car Tuners.
Clive Seddon will be driving the RC Developments Race EVO VI alongside Japanese Tuners such
as HKS, M-Speed, Garage Saurus, CyberEVO, Panspeed & Mine's etc, and it will interesting to
see how the RC Developments EVO fares against the quickest Japanese Circuit Cars in the world. |
Now this should be good!
