In 1988 Peugeot won the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb, also known as "The Race to the Clouds" with a specially prepared Peugeot 405 T16 driven by Finnish Rally Driver Ari Vatanen
Peugeot had stopped participating in the World Rally Championship series in 1986 due to the demise of Group B rallying.
Peugeot used the lessons learnt from its 205 T16 to create the 405 T16. With at least 600bhp, large aerofoils, four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering,
Vatanen took the car up the hill in a record time 10:47.77, his efforts being captured in short film Climb Dance.
The current record is 10:01.408, held by Nobuhiro Tajima in the Suzuki XL7 Hill Climb Special.
The film itself won four awards
