the way I understood it, car clubs used to be formed for ppl owning a particular make / model of car that was either rare, exotic or so old or obscure that parts, advice etc were hard to come by. Hence owners would get together to share information, experiences, lend support etc.......for many car owners, myself included, car clubs are the very lifeblood that keep certain cars on the road............

Now we seem to have an explosion of local car clubs that cater to anything with the same badge, most of which represent generic, mass market vehicles, with easy availability of parts and expertise. The notable exception are the Mini and Ford clubs........

I can understand a Rotary, Sylvia, Evolution or WRX etc club, but seriously, a club for anything Mitusbishi, Nissan, Subaru etc??? Are we so in need of a sense of belonging, recognition or self esteem?

I can understand a local pug club; few owners, parts not easy to come by, limited experience with tuning and modifying etc............not to mention the fact that owning anything euro and keeping it in its original state takes a rare breed

what i dont get is, a "car-club", that the primary use of said cars, is tranpsort to / from car-club limes.
there's the "car-club" that demands fees from members, so said "car-club" can be represented, and have resources at one form of motosport.
sad to say, my only interest in the car-clubs are technical advise. and the ones who can give it, aren't the ones who are most enthusiastic about said clubs.

well...my $0.02.

I organized a 'lime' with Starlet owners one time in Grand Bazaar...at the end the agenda and discussions made us feel like we started a Club. All Starlet owners on a level playing field...some looking to upgrade, some looking for parts, problem resolution...

Now last time I check...starlet are rare cars...and seeing 10-15 starlets cruising down the road in a pack will be nothing short of a 'sick ting' moment!
