Honda has announced last year that a 2.2L four cylinder clean diesel engine will be add for the US Accord in 2009. Also a diesel V6 was in discussions.
Honda today announced that one or both of the engines will turn up in the Acura lineup, at least in Japan, by 2010. And if the 2.2L four cylinder clean diesel will have success with the Accord it will also be used for Acura models.
A possible choice will be the next generation RL with a diesel V-6. That combination would pit it directly against the German rivals like the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5-Series which will both have six-cylinder diesels by then.
