Barca: Coulthard finishes on top
Thursday 3rd May 2007
David Coulthard finished this week's four-day Barcelona test in the driving seat, after taking the P1 slot in a low-fuel qualifying run.
The Red Bull Racing driver clocked a 1:21.066 to move to the top of the timesheets before the rain, which has dogged this week's test, returned after the lunch break.
Second place went to McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa, who finished 0.201s behind the Scot. However, de la Rosa's day wasn't without problems as he stopped out on track with a software problem.
Felipe Massa finished in third place, putting an end to Ferrari's reign in Spain. The Scuderia had the topped the timesheets on all three days leading up to Thursday's run, however, the Brazilian was unable to make it four from four.
Massa, though, also experienced problems as a hydraulic pump failure kept him sidelined for part of the morning session, while a spin from fourth placed Giancarlo Fisichella was the Renault driver's worst issue of the day.
Robert Kubica finished in fifth place for BMW ahead of the Toyota of Ralf Schumacher and Honda's Christian Klien. Klien spent his day trying out Honda's new 'elephant ear' wing.
