Audi still believe that the 100 per cent record of their R10 car will come under serious threat on the upcoming street races despite their victory in St. Petersburg last weekend.

The two Audis qualified on the second row of the grid behind the LMP2 Porsches from Team Penske, but the LMP1 cars still managed to take the top two places in the race.

Reigning champions Allan McNish and Dindo Capello won the race, but the team are still expecting a tough challenge at the next two street events at Long Beach and Houston.

"The St- Petersburg victory certainly gave us a bit of confidence looking ahead to the next two races, but it's a cautious optimism," said McNish.

"I think the competition didn't get everything one hundred per cent right, while we did, so the competition from Porsche and Acura will be very strong."

Audi motorsport boss Wolfgang Ullrich is also expecting the smaller LMP2 cars to offer a strong threat on the street courses, despite the current unbeaten record of the R10.

"The R10 has now been undefeated in 10 races and for more than a year, but we're aware that this string of exploits will end at some point," he said.

"The competition in the American Le Mans Series keeps getting stronger, but we're going to give our best again in the upcoming city races."
