I remember when CART had drivers like Emerson Fittipaldi, Nigel Mansell, Mario Andretti et. al....quality drivers. Then the series ended up splitting into the IRL and Champ Car and basically ended quality open wheel racing in the USA. Champ Car is almost dead and the IRL is not much better off when you look at the attendance in the spectator stands. When the two series try to reunite, there is always some stumbling block, moreso on Tony George's (IRL) part. All this time, NASCAR is laughing their way to the bank. |
