First things first and let's report that Dindo Capello is doing OK after a heavy crash yesterday night during mandatory night practice at Sebring. The Italian driver of the number 1 car was running on slick tyres and was unlucky trying to avoid a GT2 car running very slowly in very bad weather conditions. The car came back to the pits with very serious damage and missing 2 wheels which means there is a very big chance that they cannot make it for the race.
Obviously Audi has demonstrated an amazing capability in the past to craft small miracles so the last word is not said yet, but as for the amount of damage and the needed spares to be able to rebuild the car a very big question mark will be hanging on the garage of car number one and a race against time is going on to make it to Saturday morning.

Race is underway and the two Audis are running first and second. Those Audi boys seemed to have worked some magic to repair that damaged car. One of the Penske Porche LMP2 cars in in the pits with brake problems.
Just heard that the organizers have reduced the R10's fuel capacity by 9 litres to "equalize" the energy in the fuel tanks of the LMP cars. |
