BP Ford team director, Malcolm Wilson has reiterated that the new 2007 spec Focus won't be ready until around mid-season, with the Rally Finland currently pencilled in for its debut.

Speaking exclusively to Crash.net Radio, the M-Sport man noted that while it won't be a big step forward, there will be a number of small changes, especially under the skin. Despite the efforts with the 07 car though, he added that they are still working on the current car and making changes that don't require approval from the sports governing body, the FIA.

It is not possible in this day and age to do big changes, but we are looking to do an evolution of the 06 car for probably around the Rally Finland, he noted. At the moment though we are still working flat-out on the current car and trying to make evolutions which are not FIA related homologated issues.

You will, however, see some detailed changes for the 2007 car, but they won't be significant. They will be quite small changes on the outside, but hopefully maybe under the skin there might be a few more.

Pressed on what advantage this might give his drivers' - Marcus Gronholm and Mikko Hirvonen on the stages, he said it was very difficult' to say, especially as it is dealing with very, very small percentages'.

If you look at some rallies, they are being won now by less than a handful of seconds after 350 kilometres over three-days on totally different terrain. So it is very difficult, he continued. It would be nice to say there is a clear percentage to be gained and you have done these calculations and implemented those changes, but in real time it doesn't have the same affect.

We know though what we are trying to achieve but it is certainly not significant - and I think you can see how difficult it is by how close all the cars are at the moment.

You have a real short term memory boy or are you biased towards the French? Very Happy

Like you forget who was leading the last rally until a freak puncture of an oil cooler occurred and put him out.

Subaru all the way!!!!

Really, it does not matter to me. It would just make it more interesting to see more than one manufacturer/driver capable of winning a race.
