Legendary Le Mans sponsors, GULF have signed with LMP2 champions Barazi-Epsilon for the 2007 Le Mans Series season and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

After ending their association with Paul Belmondo Racing in 2006 the oil company was looking to continue their association with the sport in 2007 and the Barazi squad was the best way to move forward in 2007.

"Gulf was extremely impressed with the way Barazi-Epsilon performed in 2006 under the excellent direction of Michel Lecomte," Gulf Oil International, Vice President, Alain Dujean said. "At times its LMP2 Courage was the fastest car in the entire field, as was demonstrated when it finished a superb second overall at Istanbul.

After legendary sponsorships with the famous Ford GT40 and numerous Porsche machines, the Zytek 07S that Barazi will use in 2007 will have a familiar colour scheme. The light blue with two stripes will be back in 2007.

It also appears that GULF stalwart driver Karim Ojjeh will have a part in the team in 2007.

Gulf is delighted to continue its association with Karim Ojjeh who has been racing with Gulf for some time and has been a great ambassador for the brand.
With his move to Barazi, Gulf has been given the opportunity of supporting him as its ambassador for the brand so it was logical that Gulf increased its involvement yet further with the team, Dejean said in the announcement.

The new Barazi cars with the GULF support will appear at the Le Mans Series test sessions on the 25th and 26th of March. The series gets under way at Monza on the 15th of April with the 24 Hours of Le Mans being held on the 16-17 of June.
