Michael Schumacher's manager Willi Weber has rubbished suggestions that the German is being groomed as Ferrari team boss. The seven-time world champion has taken an advisory role at the team since retiring from racing at the end of 2006.

However, Weber said that his attendance at Formula One tests should not be taken as a statement of intent regarding a bigger future job.

"If it would be Michael's intention to be at all the races again, he might as well have continued to be a racing driver," said Weber.

Another Schumacher associate, Sabine Kehm, has also been forced to deny claims that the F1 great would test this year's F2007 car.

"At this point in time, no test of Michael is scheduled," said Kehm.

Brawn will only return for 'new challenge'.

The Ferrari garage will be a different place when the new Formula One season opens in Melbourne next month, and not just because Michael Schumacher has retired. The Scuderia has also been forced to make changes in its technical department, and Ross Brawn's distinctive figure will also be missing from Albert Park.

Schumacher's retirement was the catalyst to the break-up of Ferrari's so-called 'dream team', with Brawn opting to take a well-publicised sabbatical from Formula One in order to spend more time with his family. The Briton will not even be in front of a television when the new season kicks off, preferring instead to pursue his other love, fishing, and insists that he is not even thinking about returning to the sport.

Even though he has only been gone for a couple of months, Brawn's return has been the subject of speculation for longer than that, with opinion divided between him returning after a year and disappearing from F1 altogether. The man himself appears undecided, telling Germany's Auto Motor und Sport that he was enjoying his new life.

"I simply needed to change my scenery, to clear my head," Brawn said, before detailing planned fishing trips around the globe that will preclude a meeting with anyone at Ferrari until well into the 2007 season.

Returning to Maranello continues to be Brawn's only offered option, but he insists that he won't be back as technical director.

"Ferrari has given me so much that it is only fair that I speak to them first," he admits, "but if I return, I will need a new challenge."

While not expanding on that comment, Brawn admitted that speculation linking him to a future as team principal was 'an option for the future'. Until then, Brawn's life will be all about fishing rods rather than conrods and reels instead of wheels.

Rumors, rumors and more rumors. These rumors are just as misleading as the testing times. Each day I check my e-mail to see when will Ferrari offer me the post of Team Manager. Very Happy

If this is true, I don't blame Brawn ! after all, did he not accompany schumi when the latter moved to ferrari from benetton ?
some persons need a certain kind of motivation and "group dynamism" for them to function at their best! maybe brawn just doesn't feel that the "aura" within the team is still there with michael retired as driver #1.

IMO, brawn is doing the right thing! after all, what's wrong with him wanting to spend his millions $$$$$ and have fun with loved ones Smile

michael will be missed by his fans, but fans also need to note that schumi also has a wife and very young children ... all those $$$$$$$$$$$$ taking up too much space in the swiss bank vault ! Laughing
besides, these men's wives have probably been hoping desperately for their husbands to spend plenty "quality time "TOGETHER" ... Wink Wink

.... o. k. lemme stop minding people business and go and feed my chile he dog chow eh? kumar does bark and sulk when 7 0'clock reach and he eh hearing no ALPO bag opening... Rolling Eyes

but, i still selfish enough tuh hope dat schumi and brawn will keep an eye on things in tfosi land !
