Based on Mitsubishi Outlander
At the 2005 autumn motor show in Tokyo, Mitsubishi has launched the new Outlander. Meanwhile the French car maker PSA has been developing a new and first 4x4 model based on this new Outlanders platform. It is to be launched under the Peugeot badge and dubbed 7007. For this project Peugeot has searched and found in Mitsubishi an experienced partner particularly for off road models.
These days now, a group of engineers from Japan and France were sighted testing the two new models side by side in the snow of northern Scandinavia. The Mitsubishi Outlander version has a German license plate, and the French Peugeot version has a French license plate and a still disguised different front end.
The Peugeot 7007 is scheduled for launch in 2007. It will be made by Mitsubishi and get power from engines by PSA and Mitsubishi. Talk is of a Mitsubishi fuel engine (2,4 litre 170 HP) and a PSA Diesel engine (2,0 litre HDI, 136 HP). The Mitsubishi Outlander will come on the market in Japan already this year and in 2007 in the United States.
Plans for the Peugeot 7007 are to produce 30,000 units per year, and the car is expected to cost between 20.000,-- and 30.000,-- Euros.

SPY PHOTOS: Peugeot SUV - update-
French Off the Road
At the 2005 motor show in Tokyo, Mitsubishi launched the new Outlander while the French car maker PSA was developing a new and first 4x4 model based on this new Outlander platform. It is expected to be launched under the Peugeot and Citron badges and dubbed 7007 and C9 respectively. For this project, PSA has searched and found in Mitsubishi an experienced partner particularly for off road models.
Recently, a group of engineers from Japan and France were sighted testing the two new models side by side in the roaring heat of southern France. The Peugeot 7007 and Citron C9 are scheduled for launch in 2007. They will be manufactured by Mitsubishi and engines will be supplied by both PSA and Mitsubishi. Talk is of a Mitsubishi fuel engine (2.4 litre 170 bhp) and a PSA Diesel engine (2.0 litre HDI 136 bhp). The Mitsubishi Outlander is already available in Japan and arriving in the United States end of 2006. Plans for the Peugeot 7007 and Citron C9 are to produce 30,000 units per year and the cars are expected to cost between 20,000 and 30,000 Euros.

Apparently it is now Peugeot 4007
When this comes to T&T I be taking a test drive..
A new driving experience
New Peugeot 4x4 SUV brings new levels of environmental performance
Attractive and distinctive design style sets it apart from the rest
Uses double-zero to identify a new vehicle concept
Peugeot is entering into the 4x4 SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) market with a new model that is 4.64 metres long and fitted with one of its accomplished HDi diesel engines, with DPFS (Diesel Particulate Filter System).
Its name 4007 uses the double-zero identity as it represents another new concept in the development of Peugeots model range. The 4 represents its size within the Peugeot range and the 7 specifies its generation.
The vehicle is the result of the co-operation between PSA Peugeot Citron and the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, and this new 4x4 SUV will be on sale during the second half of 2007.
4007: Peugeots stylish image in the 4x4 world
The 4007 is completely true to Peugeots marque values, being dynamic, with assured value, distinctively styled and innovative.
Styled at Peugeots design centre, based at Vlizy in France, the distinctive and feline design style of the 4007, with its tapered headlights and open front grille, are the first signs that identify it is a Peugeot vehicle, consistent in style with other models in the range. The chrome structure that makes up the large air inlet strengthens the vehicles elegance and creates an air of authority.
Framing the air intake in the front bumper is a chrome surround that portrays a feeling of refinement and strength. The aerodynamic design of the roof, with its ribbed detailing creates an impression of strength and style, combined with a more contemporary design style at the rear of the vehicle.
At the back, a brushed aluminium trim sits between the translucent jewel-like lights, emphasising the chrome Peugeot emblem mounted above the rear number plate.
The generously proportioned wheel arches and ground clearance provide the 4007 with a capability and security for its driver and passengers, no matter what the driving conditions.
The interior of 4007 has been designed to extend the marques appeal and values in this sector by being functional and stylish with plenty of storage capability.
4007 is powered by a class-leading environmental diesel engine
Always aware of the impact of vehicles on the environment, Peugeot has equipped the 4007 with its latest 2.2-litre diesel engine, featuring its technologically advanced Diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS) for the best combination of performance, economy and environmental protection.
The 2.2-litre HDi diesel engine features direct common-rail injection and is the result of the partnership with the Ford Motor Group. It develops 156 bhp
(115 kW) and 280 lb ft (380 Nm) of torque, and is capable of using a 30% mixture of diesel biofuel, without any modifications.
Producing a driving experience that is both dynamic and pleasurable, this engine boasts impressive fuel economy and emissions performance, among the best in the SUV sector. The engine is combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox to make the best use of the high-torque characteristics of the 2.2-litre HDi diesel engine.
Safe and sure footed
The 4007 is equipped with electronic control management on all four driven wheels. The system has been designed to increase both the drivers confidence and the vehicle dynamics for on-road driving behaviour.
The steering, suspension, four-wheel-drive system, brakes and tyres have all been developed to achieve maximum efficiency. The 4007 continues Peugeots reputation for producing engaging cars with dynamic and safe road characteristics.
4007: An extension of the Peugeot range
With this new SUV model, Peugeot is continuing its strategy of extending the available choice of products in response to the diverse demands of its customers. The 4007 brings together many strong product attributes of the Peugeot marque within a growing sector of the car market.
PSA Peugeot Citron expands its range with new SUV
The new SUVs, the result of collaboration between Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) and PSA Peugeot Citron, will be sold by both Peugeot and Citron marques from July 2007. They will be fitted with an Hdi engine with particle emission filter (PEF). The sales targets of 30,000 units per year will enable the group to become a major player in a market segment whose growth perspectives remain strong in Europe.
A niche market in the early 90s, the 4x4 segment has enjoyed a strong and steady growth in sales. Now representing more than 6% of the private vehicle market in Europe, or over one million units in 2005, 4X4s have become a separate segment.
Fruitful collaboration for both groups
At the beginning of 2005, the two groups decided to combine their competences around an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) type 4x4 leisure vehicle platform being developed by MMC. The partnership concerned the adaptation of this platform for the Peugeot and Citron marques. This cooperation, concluded in a "win-win" spirit, has evident benefits for both partners.
PSA Peugeot Citron thus has access to 4x4 technology enabling it to present a new range in Europe in the SUV segment. Mitsubishi Motors, for its part, will gain a return on its investment with higher volumes. Combining the best of both worlds: the feeling of safety of the 4x4 with its ability to go off the beaten track, and the driving pleasure of a saloon.
Mitsubishi Motors is providing a new platform resulting from its acknowledged technical ability in terms of 4x4 transmission vehicles. To obtain a product definition in accordance with its standards, the PSA Peugeot Citron group has contributed to the development and adaptation of its SUV. Its area of intervention covers the wheels and suspension: elements such as the brakes, steering, suspension, the drive train and the tyres, have therefore been revised and adapted to guarantee the highest standards of comfort and driving behaviour corresponding to PSA Peugeot Citron's requirements in this respect.
PSA Peugeot Citron gives its SUV the best clean diesel technology
With the aim of reconciling emissions and ecology, all Peugeot and Citron models are fitted as standard with a particle emission filter (PEF) of PSA Peugeot Citron technology associated with the latest 2.2l HDi engine. Also, like all HDi engines from the PSA Peugeot Citron group, this 2.2l HDi is designed to accept up to 30% biodiesel.
PSA Peugeot Citron is therefore confirming its position as world leader in the use of clean diesel vehicles with particle emission filter.
This direct injection, common rail diesel with a capacity of 2.2l used on the SUV, is derived from the power unit already fitted to middle and high end model ranges of the group marques. Developed in partnership with the Ford group, it has been adapted to meet the specific needs of 4X4 vehicles.
PSA Peugeot Citron confirms the identity of each of its marques
True to its strategy, the PSA Peugeot Citron group has applied the philosophy that each of its marques has a vehicle with a unique personality, thanks to major work on the interior and exterior styling.
PSA Peugeot Citron offers increased levels of safety, comfort and driving enjoyment in this vehicle segment
With this new range, the PSA Peugeot Citron group is continuing its strategy of investing in new market segments to complement the updating of its current ranges. The group is investing further in both marques to attract a new clientele looking for something "different" to drive without having to give up driving pleasure and comfort, and while respecting the environment.
