It may appear that since the Le Mans Series race at Donington last August, Lister has been in hibernation for the winter! This is not the case.
Donington was a turning point for Lister when Michel Elkoubi of Pescarolo showed Laurence a model of their new LMP1 chassis; the seeds were sown and Laurence immediately ordered the first customer chassis ever to be supplied by
Pescarolo. In October, we also decided to use the Pescarolo 2006 bodywork. And a Judd 5.5 S2 engine.
The next step was to find a designer for the rest of the car; Laurence was speaking to Tony Southgate (who you may remember was influential in the design of the early GT Storm) and he suggested Peter Elleray. Peter started
work in late September and by the end of January the majority of the design was completed just the finishing details remaining which would be completed when the tub arrived at Walliswood.
The chassis was ready on time we collected it from the Pescarolo workshop in Le Mans on 8th February LP - Theyve done a fantastic job delivered on time, to spec and at the price quoted. Pescarolo are the most professional
people Ive dealt with. Now the build of the Lister Pescarolo has started.
However, this will not be a rush job to be ready to race by the start of the season. The Le Mans 24 is not on the agenda for 2007; the intention is a good test programme followed by the final races of the Le Mans Series Nurburgring, Spa, Silverstone and Brazil. And then a full racing programme for 2008. This LMP1 has many years of racing ahead of it.
Other news the Lister LMP has been returned to LMP900 specification as raced at Le Mans in 2004; the Lister Storm GT (FIA 2005) has been rebuilt as new, including carbon brakes, traction control; the engine room has rebuilt the Jaguar V12 and Corvette V8 engines and has been rebuilding an historic Alfa engine for a customer.
