Sebastien Loeb put the Formula 1 men in the shade this weekend in the Castrol EDGE Rankings, with the Citroen star's victory on Rally d'Italia promoting him from fifth to third.

Loeb has elevated himself over Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton on a bad weekend for the Englishman. Fourth place in the Turkish Grand Prix, allied to his losing of his points for second in last year's Chinese GP under the Rankings' 12-month rollover system, have dropped the McLaren man from third to fifth, with Ferrari's Alonso remaining fourth.

Last week's Sao Paulo IndyCar race was rain-delayed until Monday, with the knock-on effect of moving the race into this week as far as the Castrol EDGE Rankings are concerned. Will Power's victory has consolidated sixth place in the Rankings for the Australian, while Dario Franchitti's canny comeback from the brink of disaster to sixth in the Brazilian street race means he moves ahead of Jenson Button into seventh in the Rankings. Button was sixth in the Turkish GP, but discards his win from last year's Chinese GP under the rollover system.

In the world of NASCAR, a shock win for Regan Smith at Darlington has moved the New Yorker into the top 100 (up 18 to 94th), while second place for Carl Edwards reinforces his position in ninth place in the Castrol EDGE Rankings, and as the top driver from the Sprint Cup.

But Edwards has lost his lead in the EDGE Race for 2011 to Vettel, with Loeb also moving past the Roush Fenway Ford man into second place.

The Spa 1000 Kilometres provided a win for Peugeot men Anthony Davidson, Marc Gene and Alexander Wurz. Englishman Davidson is the highest-placed of the ex-grand-prix-racing trio in the Castrol EDGE Rankings, and the victory moves him up from 256th to 169th in the table.
