The most important tourist destination and most memorable landmark in Brussels, the Grand Place, was Le Mans Series territory today. Five teams that will race in the 1000 KM of Spa-Francorchamps (May 7-8-9) were on display on the square and inhabitants of Brussels as well as tourists could come and see (or photograph) the cars for a few hours.
The cars display were a 2009 Audi R15 TDI, a 2009 Peugeot 908 HDI FAP, the Signature-Plus Lola Aston Martin, a Marc VDS Racing Team Ford GT1 and the ProSpeed Competition Porsche 997 GT3 RSR. Drivers attending the display were Markus Palttala, Bas Leinders, Vanina Ickx and Allan McNish, while Belgian race legend Jacky Ickx and Le Mans Series boss Patrick Peter were also on the scene.
With 52 cars, including the factory teams from Audi and Peugeot, currently on the entry list for the final race before the Le Mans 24 Hours the 1000 KM of Spa-Francorchamps is set to become one of the best races of the 2010 sports car racing season.
Even though ticket pre-sale is now closed, tickets will be available at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit during race weekend.
General Admisson (including grand stands) is € 30,00 per person. Paddock access is an additional € 15,00. Children under 12 will have free entrance to the circuit.
