Continuing the build up to its July 9th launch, Jaguar has released a third teaser video of its forthcoming XJ sedan. In typical teaser fashion, the video doesnt give away too much of the final product, but does highlight the cars aluminum chassis. However, the big cats chassis isnt the big news here as the new XJ is expected to finally ditch its retro styling.

A recent teaser video featured Jaguar design chief Ian Callum explaining some of the concept behind the new car. Although the car is largely hidden in the video, Callum says the next XJ will be a complete reinvention of the notion of a Jaguar flagship.

Jaguar has reportedly previewed the car codenamed X351 to VIPs in the dealer world. One source who has seen a preview of the new XJ described it as similar to the Aston Martin Rapide in appearance. Larger than the coupe-like Mercedes CLS, the new XJ has a sloping roofline and very sleek exterior overall, sources say.

Jaguars design chief Callum has even openly stated the new XJ will be a fair bit more daring than the new XF, since its a lower volume model. Were expecting to see sleeker headlamps like those on the popular C-XF concept, plus an especially low-slung profile.

Underhood, expect a range of direct-injection V8s, with horsepower ratings starting at about 380. European buyers will also have the choice of Jaguars all-new 3.0L twin-turbo diesel V6. According to the latest video, the XJ will lead its class in fuel economy and CO2 emissions.

The new XJ will continue to use its predecessors all-aluminum chassis and thats a good thing, given it was recently redesign and continues to lead the pack in terms of torsional rigidity, lightness and strength.

Following the heavily updated 2011 XJ, an all-new platform is expected to bow in 2015. Look for the 2011 Jaguar XJ to bow on July 9th.

Jaguars all-new XJ flagship is exactly one month away from its official unveiling. Following recent teasers from the British luxury carmaker, our artist has put together two illustrations depicting how the car will likely look. Combining elements of the XF sedan and popular C-XF concept, the new XJ does away with the current models retro styling. An invisible c-pillar also helps distinguish the new XJ from other cars on the road.
