The key upgrades include a pair of GT30R turbos

After a high initial hurdle in cracking the GT-R's ECU, many tuners have taken their shot at improving on Nissan's latest interpretation of the GT-R, but now Hennessey is going for the title of "World's most powerful" R35 Nissan GT-R.

They've already laid claim to the title of "World's fastest Nissan GT-R" thanks to their 24.79-second run to 186mph (300km/h), accompanied by a 2.8-second 0-60mph (96km/h) time, both at the Texas Mile. Top speed of the modded GT-R is claimed to be 193.7mph (311km/h). With that out of the way, going for the most powerful title makes a sort of wonderfully twisted sense.

This video previews the build, and though it shows nothing but the engine bay and some turbo spooling action, it gives a taste of what's to come. The full build list is yet to be released, but the core upgrades include a set of custom stainless steel headers, custom stainless downpipes, external wastegates and, of course, a pair of massive GT30R ball-bearing turbos.

That recipe ought to be enough to get 1,000hp or more out of the 3.8L engine, but we'll have to wait for the dyno results, which Hennessey says are 'coming soon.'
