Quote: | ETHANOL ENGINE
Researchers at MIT have developed a half-sized gasoline engine that performs like a standard-sized engine, but has the fuel efficiency of a hybrid engine. The key is a carefully controlled injection of ethanol directly into the engine's cylinders when the engine requires more power, such as going uphill or passing another car.
The ethanol-boosted engine would provide efficiency gains comparable to today's hybrid engine systems, but for less initial investment than the extra $3,000 to $5,000 for a hybrid car. Cars with the mini gas engine would cost only about $1,000 more, and would use less than five gallons of ethanol for every 100 gallons of gasoline. Drivers would only need to fill their ethanol tank once every one to three months.
The researchers are working with Ford to test the engine, and expect that within five years, vehicles with the new engine could be on the road. |

Humm! Maybe could include Direct Ethanol Injection in the replacement for the 4G63 _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |
