With the new Evo X about to go to market, I'm curious about other people's opinion...
Which Evolution is your "All Time Favorite"? Is it the venerable Evo III?
What about the rally icon the Evo V... or Evo VI?...
Maybe the Evo IX MR?... or the new Evo X?
Please add the specific model (GSR... RS... MR... etc.) in your comments.
Thanks. _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick!

Well I suppose most MadMen already know my opinion...
but for the record, the Evolution VI TME RS2 is my choice.
IMHO it's the best developed "Driver-friendly" Evo made. Here's why (in order of importance...)
Quote: | SUPERB steering... (2.1 turns lock-to-lock... Compare with the other models.)
... Beautiful balance and feedback. The "best in the business" IMHO.
BRILLIANT brakes... (60-0 mph in 155 feet... and in 2.5 seconds)
Great handling... Not "the best"... but VERY good. A great "base" for future upgrades.
Good acceleration and Top speed... 0-60 mph = 4.4 sec... 155 mph.
... IMHO QUICKER, LIGHTER and more RESPONSIVE handling than newer models.
... BTW that performance is for a STOCK Evo VI |
Quote: | Body parts difficult to find locally but those are available in UK.
Other parts plentiful in USA, Australia and UK. Often available "used" on the local market.
EASIER... and CHEAPER... (less electronics) to maintain than newer models.
Very "edgy" in styling... maybe a little too much for me but I'll live with it.
Just enough creature-comforts (A/C etc.) to make it a viable daily-driver.
CHEAPIST "Supercar" base vehicle available on the local market. Reasonably CHEAP to upgrade to Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche performance
levels of power and handling. Basically a Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche-eater for "peanuts." |
Unlike the GSR models with AYC, it's mechanical drivetrain allows you to control the car...
instead of the car controlling you at the limit of adhesion... but that's just a personal opinion.
IMHO a VERY good balance of mechanical strength, engineering brilliance and Driver feedback.

I like the Evo IV GSR.
The first one I saw in real was the white one that the General Manager of Diamond Motors had. I was waiting to drop in my CK Lancer for servicing, real liking myself with my first new car only to see the IV pull up. When I was walking out of the service bay, I must have spent about 10 minutes just maccoing the car, wishing I had the money to buy one.
In addition to its technical capabilities, I find that it has a clean look, and not the fat heavy look of the V and VI.
The VII through IX just do not cut it for me, as I find that the styling leaves alot to be desired. Although if I got one free, I wouldn't hesitate to take it. |

imo.........1 vote for IX
Although I first liked the E7 because of that dumb 2fast-2furious movie , I guess was the new body shape that I liked.
However, my "All-time Favourite" is the Evolution IX MR FQ-360 _________________ Feel the Power of the |

^ ^ ^ Good choice SUZUKI. IMHO FQ360 is the best of the UK E9's...
but make mine on the RS model... No AYC please. _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick!

^ ^ ^ I don't know for sure and not trying to argue either... but is there an MR/RS model?
I thought the MR had the 6-speed/rear AYC etc.
...while the RS has the 5-speed and rear LSD _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |

I don't want to argue either...just quoting what I've read
The MR's came in both GSR and RS spec (5-speed or 6-speed):
Press Release
or
Lancer Register |
