the car was just Sick most of this was due to the 1st owner [the owner b4 my fathers classmate]
Problems
1. the roof was handmade hence vulnerable to leaks and basically just looked bad
2. rubber bumpers faded from black to a faint grey
3. due to spending the last couple of years parked rats basically lived in it [mango seeds and cut wires were among the damage they caused]
4. bad smell
5. new carpet needed
6. rust
7. seats needed to be re done
8. new lights needed
9. paint needed
10. various other minor tweaks _________________ WheelsJamaica

1st we took out the seats, carpeting and the rails that the seat slide on
we found out that the passenger side ones were rusted beyond recognition
we tried heavy duty rust remover, WD 40 then finally got vex and just used a drill no we have hole in the floor board Grin
then after this.......... my nightmare i had to scrape out ALL the rust on the floor then wash the rust off then dry all of that in the summer sun [torture] Cry neways we then ordered our first batch of parts from a catalogue we got from the previous owner
the list
Roof
Tailights
Headlights
Insulation
Windshield Wiper Blades
local parts
batteries [ so far we went through 3]
belts and hoses
more insulation
we had a tuff choice of either gettin the pre cut carpet pieces or use the one we have [ours did look kinda small] we decided to just use the free one and at least try we have nothing to use _________________ WheelsJamaica

glad to see this project finally up on Zorce
More local 'restorers' need to take a look at what was done with this car, as a blueprint for how it shold be done! _________________

so when me and my father went down to the garage to go pick up the car after papers sign bills pay and we in agreement my father went to go start the car VRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooom-------------[car shut off] tries again same thing
so the mechanic adjusted the fuel ratio make the mg touch [and pass] it redline couple time then everything cool:D
[b4 we lef the mechanic was saying that a man with a similar MG went to the depot to pass the car so when the examiners drive the car them say the examiners rags out the car all the chassy did start twist so him say we can link him to get a test with out the ruff driving ]
so we hook up the mg to my fathers car with me in the mg. we towed the car from mountain view to liguanea where I drove the car so now we take off the tow strap start the car then the engine shut off.
the clutch engagement is super narrow so it take me couple stalls to get used to it
move off in 1st
2nd
cant find 3rd due to short throw gearbox
stays in 2nd
so i continued to drive till we reached barbican where we towed the car again until we reached russel heights then i started to drive again
1st
2nd
finally find 3rd
then go back to 2nd then continue to drive in 2nd and 1st until i reach this corner the car shut off on me goin around the corner so i started it and tried to move off
it stalled again i tried bout 4 times until i got pissed i started it, floored the gas, raised the clutch and the car finally move off with rear wheelspin
by then the midday heat kicked in so did leg pain due to confined spaces and so did left ear deafness due to loud exhaust but i loved every second driving it
so we continue driving to manor park where we got gas [setting off parked car alarms accidentally] we got gas then continued our journey up the hill to home _________________ WheelsJamaica

here are some stories on it
one morning we were tryin to put back in the seatbelts when we noticed the belt was stuck so we tried everything to try and get it to move [we were trying the drivers belt 1st] so now we basically gave up on the belt until push came to shove where we decided to completely dismantle it i saw this sign on the seatbelt that said do not remove IT WAS SO TEMPTING
...............so i did
under the cover was the highly compressed spring that i managed to hold without it flying all over the place [due to the fact that the cover was still attached] now wen i passed it to my father to look at i said careful daddy it might flyout whooooooooooooooooooosh it pulled out my instinct instantly kicked in i covered my face then wen all was calm i looked at the damage ntn more than a small scrape on my knee then wen i noticed that the cover was nowhere in site after tedious searching we found it in the house 20+ feet from where it ejected
now after this experiment gone wrong we attempted the passenger seat belt but instead we tried WD40 and guessed wat it worked so now im bout US$88 short of a new seat belt so the lesson of the story is read instructions and WD40 fixes ALL
[btw we got new seatbelts the one that was fixed by WD40 didnt hold up] _________________ WheelsJamaica
