well from the factory the , non A+ series of motors came cast iron block and cast iron head with about 8.8:1 compression ratio . pretty low considering fuel long time ago was low graded lead fuel , somewhere around 83-87 octane . most of the series sported low compression before ae hepolite upped the game by offering the range of pistions suited to well over 10:1 compression ranges. remeber all volumes from compression ratio take into account not only bore volume , volume the head gasket uses , but also the clearance volume which is the volume in the cylinder head which is about 21.4 cc. if you want to lower the compression further , you will have to cut into the combustion chamber to open up the head volumes . the turbo metro head gasket is a little thicker than stock thanks to the copper coating , so it should also help. _________________ anyone can shoot a bullet , can you actually steer it??????????????????????????????? |

lowering the compression ratio might be done by having a gasket made out of metal about 80thou's thick ..
The local gasket makers havent been able to handle this sort of job efficiently yet..
Another untried and untested means is using a thin copper sheet, just a about 40 thous thick, sandwiched between two headgaskets. the downside of this is two headgaskets now introduce 2 succeptible points for failure, also the copper sheet cannot be too thin ..however by making it 40thou, the thickness of this, together with the thickness of the 2 headgaskets may drop your compression too low. _________________
