can you shed some light on the 'test and tune'?
Is it for competition cars, or an open track day?

The test and tune is open today to street cars wishing to participate and try a few laps. No 'bouncing' allowed, strictly clean driving. No spectators allowed either, just drivers and their crew/cars.

Just came back from Circuit Test & Tune. Some of the drivers and officials of TTASA gave us a free "Driving School" practical session. Each person was allowed to take a few slow laps around the Wallerfield Circuit and shown lines, good driving habits and the protocols of the flags, pitting etc. I have to say that I felt each person was better for it. I am sure we all learned thing or three that we never knew about driving, racing or the circuit today.

I was honoured to be given a few lessons by one of the greats, Tanko Baboolal. The other instructors jeered on that he came with me to drive because of our Project Rx7. I have to say I appreciated the individual attention given to all and the extra time I managed to get with Tanko at the wheel and pointers while I drove.

After the lessons we were all allowed to take to the tracks but warned that it was NOT a race and that our insurance policies would not cover this kind of activity. I relaxed on the main straight to let the engine stay cool and to let myself focus on the corners and try out a few of Tanko's lines. I didn't think our humble Rx7 could handle so well but Tanko seemed to be quite happy with it.. I must say that there were more than a few occasions where ear-to-ear was simply mandatory as the rexy simply lined up for the corner thanks to managed oversteer or responded well to minimal steering input and more throttle steering.

Needless to say I ran until the car started to starve for fuel in the corners and I wish we could secure more tracktime and LOTS more tires.

Conclusion: I loved it! What a day...
