this is wonderful for those MX-5 fans who claimed that their canvas top discoloured or teared over the years. Mazda has been selling Miatas 17yrs now and with over 750,000 sold to date they must have gotten enough emails and letters from owners that a hard-top should be made too. A hard top with the automatic would be heavy for hard core MX-5 fans but compared to the wider cheap sports compact world, its still a light vehicle. I would go for the true convertible with the 6-speed stick.
They are just making the car appeal to more people. Mazda engineered this on their own whereas Mitsubishi sourced their hard-top on the Eclipse from the American Sunroof Company I think. I maybe wrong. |
