Okay enough Evo info for now... Time for some Ol' School Galant info for a change.
It's not much but I'll dig out some more and add to this post when I find more.
Here's the King of the ol' school Galant range... Swiping all the best stuff from the
JDM Starion; this baby didn't only have the SOHC G63B Turbo motor with
ECI (electronically controlled fuel injection)... over 22 years ago!...
and a 5-speed gear-box... It also had 4-wheel "ventilated" disk brakes...
and 4-wheel Independant Suspension too!...
My Dad still has one... and it still can outcorner any stock rwd Lancer 1800 GSR Turbo
any day of the week!... I have a Lancer 1800 GSR... We tried all the time
How about at least 5 mph (8 kph) faster through almost any corner?!?
.. and this is what all the fuss is really all about... The G63B Turbo engine!
NOTE: This is the 1st version of the 'wet manifold', 2-injector, Fuel Injection system
... (a.k.a. 'black top'.) It was also installed on early 2.0 Lancer Turbos
The 2nd version of the older "throttle body" system also appeared in the Starion
(2.0 G63B UK & 2.6 G54B US) models...
It also was fitted to the 2nd edition of the Lancer Turbo... The JDM Lancer 1800 GSR!
BTW I don't know if "FI version 2" was ever fitted to the Galant Turbo.
For the record, the SOHC G63B Turbo engine with "version 2 FI" was also
used in later FWD cars as well.
Here's the continuation of the UK Galant Turbo Brochure...
NOTE: The world's only reclining rear seats!
NOTE: The 'usual' 4G63 typo below...
Here are some Sapporo Turbo 'specs'... It's a UK 2-door coupe version of the Galant.
Yup!... made the same "typo" again... calling the G63B a 4G63!
NOTE: This is an early "non intercooled" model... 168 bhp at the flywheel.
NOTE: The Galant's G63B developed 177 bhp at the flywheel with a front mounted intercooler.
... and remember, guys... This baby is more than 22 years old too
HOWZAT for engineering!... Mitsubishi Rulez ...
That's all for now...
Well guys.. wadda yuh think?
BTW add more info here if possible... Thanks! _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick!

Actually 'The Colt Car Co.' is the original name for Mitsubishi UK. (see above)
btw MG did your friend's Galant have a 'live' rear axle?
Also did it have an LSD or an 'open' diff? _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |

^ ^ ^ It's what people call a "Banjo" type axle...
A good example is an Escort or EX 1.4 Lancer rear axle.
A rigid housing with diff and internal half-shafts (axles) etc.
with drum or disk brakes at each end.
It's linked to body-shell in various ways... leaf spring (Ford Escort)...
Coil-spring and "trailing arms" (Lancer EX 1.4 / most Galants) etc. etc.
Usually used for rear wheel drive cars.
The other type (used in front wheel drive cars) is the (non-driven) "beam" axle. _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |

^ ^ ^ No problem BENNY. There is nothing like a dumb question here.
That's why I started this thread for "Frequently Answered Questions" (FAQs)...
FAQs and Fantasy!... ALL questions welcome! ... Click here!
No MadMan was born in a my friend. We all have a lot more to learn.
That's why we try to keep "flames" and sarcasm off this forum.
That's what the hobby is all about IMHO.
Just try a "search" first at the MadMen main page... The answers may already be here. _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |
