http://news.windingroad.com/

Aston Martins been on something of a roll lately, thanks in large measure to its gorgeous styling language, burgeoning lineup, and renascent performance reputation. Judging by these new spy shots of the coming V8 Roadster, the companys streak is set to continue.

Expected to make its debut within the next six months, the charismatic droptop with the ordinary name will make use of Astons 32-valve 4.3-liter V-8. The latter is believed to make the same 380 horsepower that it does in the fixed-head coupe. We believe the cabriolet will be a mote porkier than its tin-top cousin, so performance could slip modestly from the coupes 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds and top speed of 175 mph.

The undisguised prototype above (caught by Brenda Priddys people frolicking outside the Nrburgring) clearly shows Aston doggedly sticking with soft top mechanisms, despite a market thats trending toward folding hardtops. The omission could be due to any number of factors, including cost, complexity, weight, packaging and/or perceived lack of demand.

Either way, even with its soft top up, few would question that the V8 Roadster manages to look sensational.
