Although the KTM X-Bow is one of the most extreme track machines on the planet, it has been off limits to those of us who reside in the U.S. However, KTM has recognized the high demand for the X-Bow in the United States and has officially announced that it will soon be available on our side of the Atlantic.
And, as if that wasnt good enough news, KTM is also planning to make the U.S.-spec X-Bow street legal, according to Dealer News. That means the X-Bow will challenge the Lotus Elise as the ultimate streetable track car.
It remains unclear what alterations KTM will need to make in order to make the X-Bow street legal, but modifications could include a planned windshield and removable roof.
Power for the X-Bow is currently rated at about 240 horsepower thanks to the cars Volkswagen-sourced turbocharged 2.0L engine but a 261 horsepower version of the same engine could be in the cards for the U.S.-bound X-Bow. As it stands, the X-Bow can make the sprint from 0-60 in under four seconds and hit speeds in excess of 130 mph.
No word on U.S. pricing, but the Euro-spec X-Bow model sells for the equivalent of about $55,000.
