good move with the brakes. what i found is that the front and rear discs were the same size when i did mine conversion..so what i plan to do next yr is upgrade the front to a larger disc first..then keep the same size rear but a better brand..

true, the real thing is a 16v and double cam..that why i feel the 2.0 16v double cam is a good engine to start with..
i find the older pugs which comes with the 8v single cam does not have much options..

yah

the 8vers were made mainly for economy and comfort. that's why its so hard to squeez the power out of them.

The setup is correct, been tried tested, redone and retested, its done well.

Hi guys,
sorry i have not posted anything else yet but my job is one that has me very busy. I am reading alot about boosting pugs, Matt Collins from Ecosse told me not 2 even attempt 2 modify my 1.8 single cam 8valve cause it will not make any power, well i spoke 2 him recently after i came off the dyno making a whopping 345bhp which is only 5bhp less than his monster conversion on that 2litre engine. I also have a friend in Europe with a 1.6 8valve golf making 620hp but using nos also. the concept of more cams & more displacement is not the only thing that will allow u 2 make big power.
I will love 2 sit in any meeting with u guys & shre the knowledge i have gained over the years in pug tuning. A rally driver from Barbados came over here 2 drive my car when it was on the dyno, this guy has a 206 rally spec which is lighter, smaller & more parts than i have. His experience with my ride was according 2 him he will not like to meet me on the road cause he is very sure he will not be able to keep up. If u guys r serious my cell# is 680-1835 set up a constructive meeting 4 the guys who r interested in power not looks & i will gladly sit in & advise as much as i can. for the record u can make impressive power from an 8 valve single cam.....i did it....also i am increasing power as we speak to over 400hp with same engine in January...i have the dyno sheet to prove it....the owner of this site Narend can testify to that as he did a photo shoot where the dyno sheet was asked to be produced. One thing to know whatever Hp level u want u need to spend some real cash 2 acheive it, no bamboo parts will work on these pugs.

LionTamer, it would be good if you could attend our next meeting it will be held in jan but a date not yet set. there are interests in boosting the pug so your experience would be good to share..
