^lol, is not as much as we think, but yeah, due to poor rustproofing in local assembly and a couple minor accidents it may have had in the past, there is a good deal of filler on the car. Thats a problem with many owners and bad bodywork ppl along the way.
Since we on the subject of projects, I might as well ive a briefing on mine.
It's probably the total opposite to banzai's. I intend to eventually restore it as if it were built up shortly after it hit the road back in 85'.
The body would be completely restored, if not all at once, section by section. Keeping all the GSR trim on it which I luckily got with the car. I will also be keeping the 13inch alloys on it as well, running 205 60's as I do currently. The scheme may be a modified version of the same white with black and red trim, or if I can get the body perfect, pepper grey with black trim, at this stage it looks like I will be staying with the white route. I may or may not modify the bonnet with a low cowl, Hot rod/Muscle car style. Hot rod/ muscle car style is the general theme for the whole project.
The engine may be a modified 1600, or if I lucky enough, 2000 Mitsubishi engine. Most likely it will be carbed, 32/36, or 38/38. I considering blowing through with a turbocharger as well, but I may decide against that and go all motor since I sticking to an old school feel. For now she running with the original 1400 she rolled out on the street with, just with some minor modifications. Would be sort of sad to swap the engine knowing that it was in there the past 21 years, but I will be sticking to a mitsubishi engine.
Suspension wise I still don't quite know what to do yet, I can't walk into Maska or sherrifs and ask for after market springs, they won't exist (I refuse to put civic springs in the front ). I don't want the car much lower, just an inch lower max. I realy want to get it tighter though, the original springs were designed for comfort and were soft to start with. Now with time they are even softer.
The interior needs work too, would most likely keep the oriinal seats, everything will go in black Vinyl, with new door panels and center consol that I will work on soon. The dash will also be in black. Trim will be red.
I have the pictire of how the car will look and feel in my head, I just need to get the funds and spend the time to do it. _________________
