|
|
...so today was the transformation of the bling to the "sting"...keep in mind that this is not a high budghet project....that its intention is to show how with simple things and limited funds, yu can still get great results that look good and are functional.
...we picked these rims up on a ole Galant (PAC) in th back of a yard in Arouca. Paid all of $300 for the set. Typres are foriegn used (at $175 each). The owner said its BBS rims...but apart from the fact that the rear lip on the rims were deeper than the front rims, we really cudnt tell if they were real BBS's..and the caps were no where to be found.....touche...still a great deal. if anyone knows wher to find BBS's caps pls PM and let me know
rims were in a state but near perfect..
tools for th transformation. A degreaser ($22) a ting of Tyre Spray ($35) and a tube of Autosol ($24)
process was easier thatn i thought....just spray on the degreaser and wait a lil 3 mins b4 spraying off with a trusty boom (in our case)...a scrubbing brush wud suffice well though. A buxket with Soap water is also good to have.
...after a "mild" clean. The inner of the rim was later cleaned with a brillo pad ($3)
once the rims were cleaned...it was time to "bring out that extra luster and shine"...in came the Autosol..an amazing product when coupled with some elbo grease....
the cloth was baby coth that we swiped from a freind of ours...noitce the residue from the application on the rim...an that was pass number one....
so...rims cleaned and polished and ready for mounting....
here we used the Tyre shine....another simple but effectice thing....and if yu notice..the tyre thread is back to front.....doh ever turn yuh back on a tyre man whe nhe mounting yuh tyres fuh yuh....soemtimes dey just dont get it...
right side rear ( we used thse shots as we had just changed the diff..went back with a GSR lsd....until we can find a either a S14 or a 720 diff for a decent price)
this was the look before.....
and now....now..."dougla" looks the bizness...not as pretty as b4 to some..but we prefer the "performance" look.
front view (ah here comes the barrage of "so wah yuh have under dere?" questions...
next up?....exhaust change out and Steering box adjustment. |

a lil note on those 'y' spoke BBS rims:
BBS kept that design even tho it looks dated, cuz the Y spoke was discovered to be highly efficent in dissipating shock. It makes it easier on your suspension, and makes the rim more resistant to pothole damage
BBS is tha shiznitt YO _________________

yeh ..we read it...but give nthaamount of "GUNK" that was on the underside of teh rim, we thoguht it wud be best....and we cudnt find Simple Green.
Still experimenting with Degreasers cuz of our climate. Ive realized that most Degreasers work well in a temperate climate.... |

I swear by Simple Green
I bought some by price smart once, and it worked great
then I tracked down the local distributor in Barataria and he gave me the whole rundown.....the Crystal is industrial strength, and is primarily an oil dispersant, but works great as a dereaser as well......and remarkably, all their stuff is WATER based, and will not harm anything else! If u want some, jus mek ah pass and walk wid ah chubby bottle _________________
