this meeting is a general shout out to all mini owners with a vision of restoring the world's favourite small car back to its status of giant killer , 8 wonder of motoring wizardry and all around renewed enthusiasm of the mini brand to a new generation of gearheads.
the meeting is set for the 8th of april at sunny's auto supplies in chaguanas, and will tackle the issues of membership , promotion , events plus ideas on creative support and incorporation as we seek to register the club as a formal identity on the trinidad and tobago motoring scene. so if you have a classic mini , or even a new one you are invited to the meeting . all contributions are welcome as the ideas will add new vigour to our quest for greatness.

about the minis at dex.............seeing as Gunner make note of the Mini's gialn-slaying status and all, why it seem like all the mini drivers at dex only came to pose?
why not run the cars in the same spirit as what u say they are famous for?
nothing worse than a bunch of performance cars parked up for show or doing slow demo runs

An excellent challenge/goal to aim for MG Man. I think that when the MiniClub membership is ready in terms of car setup, racing tires etc. It would be great to compete at dex.

Perhaps we can create something of a new variant to the "wagonboyz" mechanism and depending on subscription have the CARS executive consider a Mini-only class @ dex until you all feel comfortable kicking tail the regular classes. You could however jump into NE and beat the Rx's time since I seem only capable of sliding about on anything but new tires Laughing

I know dex will be taking a toll on the cars and on your tires but there are a few people, like MG Man with the MGB, Zodi with his box Lancer, the Viva etc. who come and compete when their cars are working. Props to Tim Kimpton's mini which is capable of copping the best time of the day when he does show up. I mean the bamboo offers little or no support for these vehicles. Japarco used to bring in alot of mini parts, do they still do this? I know bunny from Motor City has been working on his mini for solodex, you guys should check him out as well for suppliers etc.

It would be good to invite any european parts supplier capable of finding your stuff to join this forum and make the buying process easier for the club group buys etc.

I think including Solodex competition in the club's repertoire of events will do well to enhance enthusiasts' perception of the mini in general and garner more respect for this club and its membership.

eagerly awaiting to see certain minis compete in dex. i've even seen a drivers profile, yet for some reason i can't recall seeing that driver or car ever actually compete in a class for an official event.

it would be nice to compete at dex , however the club membership is not keen on motorsport , they more enjoy just the drives or cruises that we have from time to time. parets support is fair , we can get stuff but its a little pricey ,so even if we break something its not easy to replace depeding on what it is . one thing that's hard to find is complete engines , if we ever do have a break up of a motor .

I like the cruising idea. It reminds me of the 'power tour' events in the US, but eventually I get bored with that, and want to pelt it broad Wink

It is difficult to get complete engines for anything old and british, at any price. Keep in mind a complete 1275 RWD A-series engine / recon new from the UK will run you about TT10,000, inclusive of shipping and tax. Easier to rebuild if u have a good head and block to start with.....

you guys still have it easy, with all mini components still available from Moss and the dozens of other suppliers on both sides of the pond.

Keep in mind you will not break anything on your car at dex that will not break from normal use. My car is 30 years old and has had three hard years of solodex with no competition-induced failures. As with all old cars, it all comes down to maintenance.....

remeber though , the line above , they rather go for a cruise , not many are keen on the solo cross except myself , x2board and a few others .

That is true, Maintenance is important whether you compete or do not. Obviously, if you compete as often as we do there will be escalated wear and tear on certain parts, but that should be expected and is a price to pay for haveing good fun with the car drivng it as it was meant to be driven.

Ppl often complain that their cars have a little problem (or what I would consider little! lol) and that is why they do not compete. My car has many of these and I still try to make it out to events, I on a shoestring budget nah, lol.

I'm not saying to risk major damage or health to compete, just check whatever minor problems you have, make sure that they are not dangerous, using your judgement of course, and come out and have some good fun. You won't regret it Cool

The car wants to be driven, set it free.
