Might have been present in a couple of cars (Silvia S11 and Datsun 1200). Wondering if any of these engines have survived:

S110 (from wikipedia)

The S110 was the next in the chain. This Silvia was unusual because it featured a rotary engine, designed and built by Nissan. This engine however was fairly unreliable, and forestalled extended production; It was intended for the model change in 1984, but wasn't retained that long. Ironically it shared a chassis code with the also ill-fated Mazda Cosmo, first Japanese production car to feature a rotary engine. This saw the debut of the "Gazelle" name, used for the luxury models of the S110. It was rebuilt shortly after it was originally released, the rotary replaced by several piston engines for different markets, including the new Z-engine, in 2 litre form. It was not the most powerful though, by any reach -- the Silvia RS240 was a notchback S110 fitted with a 2.4 litre FJ24E, built between 1983 and 1985, past the end of production for the S110 itself.

from auto.vl.ru:

Displacement, cc 1952
Engine model
Max.power (Net), kw(PS)/rpm 120/5600
Max.torque(Net), N*m(kg*m)/rpm 17.0/3600

Re: 1200 Rotary Prototype.

This is the only info I can find online about these rotary prototypes. Reportedly some S110 rotaries were also produced.

Nissan took a Wankel license in 1970 and created a prototype in 1972. It planned to produce a small sports car at the rate of 120,000 cars per year, but eventually cancelled after the 1973 oil crisis.

a Datsun factory tour brochure from 1972. In it are some small photos of the future in Nissan. One is a Nissan rotary engine, which looks almost the same as a 12A Mazda and a picture of an odd fronted 1200 coupe in a dyno cell, probabaly the rotary powered drone. I understood that Mazda manufactured the rotors and housings for Nissan and Toyota and the rest of the engines were in house. Mazda also did this for the rotary Norton Commandos.
