Story:

The story was flowing, had a decent pace. There were fast action sequences and slowdowns that let characters develop. Somehow the story, plot and character development still felt a little unfinished. With all the action I suppose there is less room for these. Some transitions were left unresolved, allowing viewers to skip to the action.

Dialogue:

I overheard many people trying to figure out what characters were saying. It wasn't weak and cheesy since English is not the main language in Toyko but dialogue could have been a bit clearer.

Characters:

The cowboy hero seemed respectful only to people and had little regard for cars. He was a little soft-spoken for this kind of movie but still managed to pull it off. Mr. Gaijin. Laughing

His father felt underdeveloped as a character and seemed to be unphased by his son's actions. Perhaps japanese culture is such. There was very little discussion between him and his son and this leaves the debate open regarding the father's ideals. But I imagine the movie wants to cut the chase and get to the action.

Neela is interesting enough and her accent is great in my opinion.

Han is admirable because of his style, smoothness and apparent ideals in heart of the tokyo underground. Perhaps more so because he dies and was once friends with Vin Diesel.

Twink fills the best friend role well, he brings fun and is filled with attitude.

Skills:

The action sequences were great and of course they were all live... SKILLS! The skills even came alive in the slowdown parts of the movie where Neela and friends were cruise-drifting in the mountains. They did a good job of managing the story's pace here.

Humour:
Funny bits included cowboy's car wrecking early skill level, practice sessions, snippets of Japanese reality and the wannabe badboy's frustration in his 350Z after losing to the Evo in the carpark.

Brands:

Somehow the movie felt a little short and I hear there was a little snippet after the credits that Movietowne didn't let us see. Sursprisingly no Hondas were prominently featured but there were a few brands in the mix like rotara and rockstar energy drinks.

Realism:

It was interesting how quickly the Red Evo was able to recover from all the practice hits and how much money these schoolkids had access to. That had us all wondering how realistic the story was or if we were living in the wrong country.

Cameos:

Seeing the real life drift king Tsuchiya making a cameo really gave the movie more street crediblity. The cameo appearance by Vin Diesel really sweetened the ending and at that point, in my opinion, we had pretty much seen all the car action we needed to.

I'll prob add more later...

interesting comments

i found the story to be quite different from part 1 & 2 not much thrills in terms of violence like police etc but car drifts more like it, but i guess it is the drifting that everybody wants to see..good story in its own way. the cars looked good, i found the 350z is more like it, the ending with vin diesel did top it off. i do look forward to a part 4 should any plans are intended for a release with perhaps a euro touch for a chance. Cool by the way Tokyo city looks very cool..
