Its pretty hard to impress a crowd who have everything money can buy but the Spyker C8 seemed to know just how to play up to an audience.
The unique appeal of this Dutch Super car tempted a fair few customers at the Monaco GP to be chauffeured around in it. Yet the Spyker is not a newcomer to the playgrounds of the rich and famous. It has already stolen the show in the film Basic Instinct 2 and has recently been snapped up by Hip-hop star, Buster Rhymes.
The Spyker appears to be winning over a lot of hearts in North America but it is still waiting for Europe to warm to its striking allure. It certainly wouldnt be out of place in the depths of the Cotswolds on a peaceful Sunday afternoon with the top down and a picnic for two. The dash exhibits a nostalgically classic design, one that exudes luxury and detail.
Its slick symmetric exterior is also a sight for sore eyes; a perfectly rounded rump leads seamlessly to a prominent nose and piercing head lights. Its low down stature perches just above the tarmac, poised as if eager to sprint. Draw your eyes now to the attention to detail on the bodywork, the acute angle of the air intake on the bonnet, the rounded scoops, slashed fender vents and the deeply concaved fog light housing. The Spyker-licious spokes of its alloys and those in the steering wheel insinuate a lot of drama in the engine.
Indeed its Audi 4.2-litre V8 power plant isnt shy of a 180mph+ performance and it will churn out a healthy 400bhp when taking the spotlight. But if you want to hold out for something even more exhilarating then the Spyker C12 Laturbie is in the pipeline. With its 6-litre 500bhp Audi W12 engine it will somewhat overshadow the C8 in terms of performance.
But for now the C8 takes centre stage in a bold attempt to woo an audience who rate style first and money second.
