I notice the 206 gti180 uses the VVT technology and now the 407 and the newer car..I doing some research and the only thing i could find is the VVT that honda uses. Anybody know if this car uses the same principle as the Honda? |

Peugeot's VVT is not the same as Honda's. The peugeot system allows up to 20deg of intake cam advance from idle to 4000Rpm, when the conventional system takes over (in a nut shell). The system is controlled by the ecu and uses an oil fed cam gear. The oil is directed to either side of some vanes in the cam pulley to advance or retard the cam. I have all the training material but the copywrite in the software prevents me from posting the pics - go figure.
The system works well but you never really feel it, that is the intention. The main objectives of the system are 1. to reduce pollution 2. to allow for a smoother idle 3.to provide good low down Torque 4. to reduce fuel consumption.
It is a nice system but its primary fuction is not to increase power. BTW there have been a few different systems used and the 206 and 407 and 607 are not the same. VTC and VVT. Both are basically the same principle but use different controls, sensors etc. hope that helps your curiosity |
