|

I need to know the piston bore size & stroke of the peugeot 2.0 litre engine,
can u believe i called city motors & they can't tell me. I am xperimenting
with 2.0 block & 1.8 head this combination will give a very, very strong bottom end & will give some added hp based on stroke but i don't know if 1.8 pistons is same bore as 2.0. It is common in a lot of japanese cars that bigger cc engine eg: nissan 1.5, 1.6 & 1.8 using same size piston only head different. I already know 1.8 head will bolt on directly on 2.0 block with same gaskest design but i want to know if same piston size. when built this combination is called a "Frankenstien" |

yeah, it is very popular among Honda tuning, no this info is not from Ecosse, they have not done what i call any really uncoventional
assemblies, they have done alot of transplants but not radical combinations i find when i talk to Matt he is staying on what he knows & does not seem to venture
much on the wild side like these types of inginuity. I already have spec for the 1.8 piston as i have custom built to spec forged from JE Pistons but i am having some trouble getting the spec for the 2.0litre original piston bore. Yes u get a little increase in hp because of stroke but nothing to jump & shout about, really u r building a stronger bottom end & also creating more vaccum in the engine, this helps tremendously if u do big brake conversion & install race cam as vaccum is lost in these areas when u combine both brake upgrade with cam upgrade. if u can get piston bore size for 2.0litre i will definitely appreciate it as i am doing my final radical upgrade, this info is important in deciding which way i go, any help with the info will be much appreciated. |

the 1.8 and 2.0 heads are the same if you are refering to the 8 valve engines, the 16 valve engine is different. the bore and stroke of the 1.8 LFZ engine that you have is 83/81.4mm respectively. The 2.0 16 valve is 86/86 and the older 8 valve 2.0 as found in the 405 or XU10J2 engine has a different piston size and stroke. I can find the data right now on the 405 but I can if you really want. The 405 block would be the best bet for you as it is cast iron and you could bore it to suit any piston combination that you want. Why not replace the 1.8 with the 2.0 as both engines share the same manifold setup. |

Thanks 4 the specs bro. & yes it is the 8 valve engine but i wont do a engine swap as i have custom built forged pistons for the 1.8 also my reason for wanting to try this option is only because i am blowing head gaskets due to the fact that under boost pressure my liners are moving from side to side...if i have a block with no liners it makes for a better bottom end as i wont have this problem...but i have another method of solving this problem which is the way i will go instead. i am upgrading cam & turbo to a much more powerful set up so i was looking at 2.0 bottom end only not entire engine as i dont need it really not for power anyway....but thanks 4 the info...it is much appreciated. |

the specs of the xu10j2 are actually 86/86 which is the same as the 2.0 16v. I know the details of your engine problem as we spoke about at the mall some time ago. I do not think your head gasket or your liners are the problem, have you pressure tested the head yet? most likely you have a crack in the head causing the water loss. The liners protrude well into the block and are held in place by the head, if they are moving side to side then they are not protuding enough and require shims below the liner to set the height ( note all should be set to the same height) I can give prentice the info if you need it and you can give me a call, sean has my number if you cant find it. Always willing to help RP |

Ok...thanks for the additional info...RP is that u? if so the cell# i have for u is no longer valid it seems so send me your new number via text message, i will definitely appreciate if u can give prentice a call & give him your thoughts...we did pressure test the head a while ago & it was ok then but i don't know about now so i will do it again, i am still going to make block guard though as i believe it will add value to life of the engine but this gasket problem is preventing me from realising how far i can push this engine so any help in this dep't i will definitely appreciate...don't leave me hanging i have this upgrade set to happen this month so whatever u can tell prentice on the head gasket & liners i welcome. u should have his # from previous conversations. Also will the 2.0 head bolt onto 1.8 block without any problems or additional work? |

OK, salty sounds good at least i know i have this as an option if my head does have a crack....i hope not though. Would my custom inyake manifold work with this head? i mean is the head difference besides being twin cam the intake ports are same for spacing? |
