2002 Peugeot RC Concept

Two RC Concepts were created - the RC Spade and the RC Diamond, each named according to its color. A spade and a diamond can be seen on the cars by looking at the front grill. The spade version has a 2.0 liter inline-4 planted behind the driver's seat, while the diamond car uses a 2.2 liter diesel engine. Both cars were introduced at the 2002 Geneva Motorshow.

2004 Peugeot 407 Silhouette Concept

Source: Peugeot

Utilizing the dynamic and sporting style of the saloon from which it is derived, the 407 Silhouette takes the performance character of the standard vehicle to its ultimate conclusion - while reflecting faithfully the spirit of the original model.

The architecture of this performance two-seater 407 evokes the spirit of the European Supertouring Championships, with a tubular chassis and a mid-mounted, longitudinally positioned power train.

With a length of 182.1 inches and a width of 74.1 inches, the Silhouette is slightly wider than the production car, thanks to the presence of air extraction vents on the front wings and down in the side skirts in front of the rear wings. On top of the roof (h= 53.4 inch), there are two NACA type air intakes that collect the air needed to supply its 6-cylinder engine. With fully adjustable suspension, the ride height can be lowered by approx. 0.16 inches for track use.

The smooth, metallic grey bodywork is manufactured from carbon-fibre. On each side of the car, a lions head emblem is painted in darker grey and carefully matches the profile of each rear wing.

At the front, the driving lights of the production car have become air intakes on the Silhouette, while at the at the rear, two dual exhaust pipes and a carbon spoiler affirm the sporting intentions of this very special Peugeot 407.

Inside, the fascia panel, central console and front door panels are based on those of the saloon. However, the Silhouettes trim further adds to the sporting theme, with the use of materials such as carbon-fibre, black or red leather and vermiculated black paint used on the instrument panel and central console. The two bucket seats incorporate leather and black 3D mesh trim.

The steering wheel incorporates a screen that displays the optimum racing line for circuit use. The optimum lines are based on extremely accurate, satellite supplied, cartographic data that allows the driver to overlay his own data with that supplied by satellite.

2004 Peugeot 907 Concept

Source: Peugeot

Day to day dreams create different desires that fade or disappear as dawn breaks. Sometimes, they leave a strong impression but often, only a memory remains of the dream, nestled deep in one's sub-conscious.

Stylists, engineers and designers from different generations, all have these dreams. They, however, can turn their dreams into reality; they can express their dreams through their designs.

As a group, they enthusiastically swap ideas, discuss

concepts and agree on the particular ideas. The Peugeot 907 is the result of such a dream. It is a GT coupe, created with reference to the past, the present and the future.

This is the archetypal touring car, discreet, but processing a sculpted and elegant shape, luxurious on account of the choice of materials it incorporates, and also extremely sporty as a result of its styling and its unrivalled engineering credentials.

The 907 is a two-seater coupe, modern but also classic. As in the time of the great coachbuilders, this coupe embodies one of the finest engineering dreams of combining a large capacity engine within a classical shape, achieving a genuine synergy of advanced technology and motoring tradition.

The 6.0 litre V12 engine (368 kW or 500 bhp) is positioned longitudinally behind the front axle; connected by a small propshaft, it transmits its power to a six-speed gearbox placed longitudinally in front of the rear axle. The wheelbase of this GT coupe is 97.5 in, its length 170.4 in, its width 73.3 in, while its height culminates at 47.2 in and its passenger compartment, designed to accommodate two people comfortably, is situated just ahead of the rear axle to allow for a long bonnet. The kerb weight is around 3000 lb.

The structure consists principally of a carbon fibre shell, to which the mechanical components, for example, the four double wishbone suspension units, are attached. Set into the bonnet, a glazed panel reveals twelve intake trumpets reminiscent of a fairground organ.

The roof and front windscreen form a single glazed area in harmony with the rear windscreen. Side vents are situated in the front wings and rear quarter panels, adjacent to the glazed roof, while a retractable rear spoiler is incorporated in the tailgate. Two exhaust pipes emerge from either side of the car, which is equipped with 18'' wheels and Michelin tires, 275/40 at the front and 345/35 at the rear.

The body is painted Molybdenum Grey.

Brown leather and light grey alcantara trim is used to cover both the interior and the seats. The steering wheel rim and the gear lever knob have authentic wood inlays. The instrument panel, although digital, is displayed in analogue style and the touch screen of the central console is connected to a PC (GPS, MP3 player, etc). A special area has been developed for storing luggage in the 907.

Expressing Peugeots new alignment with sport, the 20Cup is an innovative concept, both fun and dynamic: suggesting an elegant synthesis between two worlds that of the motor car by its front aspect and that of the motorcycle by its single rear wheel.

This sporty, three-wheel roadster, shown in two examples, differentiated only by colour, promises real driving pleasure through the strong sensations it evokes.

Confirming its presence in high-level motor sport, Peugeot recently announced its new commitment to competition via the LMES Championship*. The 20Cup, in a more conventional form but drawing much of its inspiration from the Frankfurt concept car, will give Peugeot the basis for the development of a presence on the racing circuit.

Prefiguring the stylistic characteristics of a future model through its front aspect, the 20Cup announces a Peugeot style that is even more incisive and feline. Radical by dint of its low ride height and engineering solutions taken from the world of motor sport, this concept car is built around a one-piece carbon chassis incorporating a separate two-seater cockpit located at road level.

The very low assembly and front transverse power train are designed to load the front axle and lower the centre of gravity as much as possible. The single-arm rear axle, virtually load-free, is used only to steer this vehicle, which weighs less than 500 kg and is centred on the front axle for extremely efficient road holding.

*: Le Mans Endurance Sries

Built aerodynamically, the 20Cup presents a generous front-mounted air intake, with air evacuated laterally ahead of the front wheels. On the lower body sides, profiles serve as an aerodynamic diffuser to promote maximum bearing on the front axle. A new engine, the fruit of cooperation between the PSA Peugeot Citron and BMW Group, is introduced by Peugeot for the first time at the prototype stage on this concept car: this turbo-charged 4-cylinder petrol engine with direct injection has sixteen valves and two overhead camshafts and is packed with ultra-modern technical features. On this version it develops a maximum power of 125 kW (more than 170 bhp for less than 500 kg!) and a maximum torque of 240 Nm.

The sequential 6-speed manual gearbox has synchronizer dog teeth and is controlled by means of paddles under the steering wheel. For this high-performance vehicle, the front suspension is the dual wishbone type, with drop links and an adjustable anti-roll bar. The rear wheel is held by a single arm with a spring/damper assembly, equipped with a rocker arm to ensure variable flexibility.

Of the three 18 alloy wheels, the one at the rear is the cage type with two removable wheel bodies. The front tyres are 210/65 R18s and the rear tyre is a 377/71 R18. 2

This two-seater car features rack and pinion steering and a multifunction steering wheel. It houses the control paddles of the piloted gearbox and, in its centre, a touch screen displaying a virtual readable image that remains horizontal regardless of the position of the steering wheel. This screen whose image is computed according to the steering wheel angle allows the driver for example to switch on the headlamps and can provide driving assistance during sporty use by showing transverse as well as longitudinal acceleration It also contains all of the cars operating indicators.

The metallic black or opaque white body also has direct carbon surfaces and, on each side, an historic lions head that follows the curve of the front wing. A central red strip decorates the cars body lengthwise.

The cockpit interior features a black leather trim
