Want to rule the roads and forget about the speed limit? Speed demons in Nevada could drive to their heart's content if one candidate has his way.
Eugene "Gino" DiSimone, a nonpartisan candidate for governor, says paying a fee to speed could help fix the state's budget crisis. A resident could submit to safety tests and put their information in a database; then, after paying a $25 fee, they could speed as much as they want for 24 hours.
Naturally, the Nevada Highway Patrol isn't thrilled with the proposal, but DiSimone says the measure could bring $1 billion to the state every year. Ultimately, the voters will decide whether a joyride fee is worth the safety risk. (via AP)
