Do you have any idea of the quality of the teaching in those Government run programmes
aimed at tradesmen?
I know that they are usually under-subscribed, and I would not mind getting some formal
instruction in introductory welding. I have no immediate need for this type of skill, but I
always found it to be interesting. At least let me benefit from the taxes that I am paying. |

Rory, to be honest I haven't checked yet... but I have to soon.
I did an I.L.O Auto Mechanics Maintenance Course in John D. in a previous life.
It was pretty good so I hope current training is even better.
I have my Dad's Oxy/Acet and AC stick units but never got the formal training that I need.
Recently I got a MIG and eventually when $$$ permit I'd like to get TIG too.
When the ToyRoom is finished in a couple months I'll check COSTATT or John D. _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |

Hi Rory. I finally have some knowledge about the level of training being offered by Gov't.
My wife and I have just finished (just YESTERDAY actually!) "Level #1" training in
............... "AQUACULTURE: Tilapia Production"
run by the Ministry of Science, Technology & Tertiary Education.
The level of training offered is very good. Dr. A. Newaj-Fyzul is the snr. lecturer.
It's in Waterloo in the compound previously owned by Caroni Ltd.
The facilities are very primitive BUT this is being improved as we speak.
Yup, you have to sacrifice a lot of time... and some courses may be boring but if
this is anything like the other re-training courses offered... I'll DEFINATELY sign-up
for others (Tilapia Production Level 2 / Machinist / Welding etc.) next year. _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |

Another Safety Tip. This one will save your life...or save you from a HORRIBLE way of living
This is what happened to one user...
PHOSGENE Poisoning_Brake Cleaner + Heat = Phosgene Article...
This is SERIOUS SH!T...Read ALL labels in your workshop BEFORE use, please. This is CRC Brake Cleaner...
FYI the same holds true for all halogenated hydrocarbons and halogenated and chlorinated hydrocarbons...
e.g. Auto A/C refrigerants etc.
Nuff' said! _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |
