Its my father's one but i use it most of the time.
After many years of being bone stock i decided to do what i could with the little money i had, not working so little resources.
The car originally had a Local Ga16 Auto but was swapped out for a Foreign used Ga15 Auto.
Yes a downgrade but wasnt my choice.
After starting to drive my sights turned from having loud music to just driving. The handling and speed.
As i dont have enough money to swap out the engine and gas to drive an SR20 i started my adding a Short Ram Intake. Because of the music previously in the car there was a big battery up front so i couldnt complete the cold air intake, also due to financial restrictions at the time.
I got the Filter used 1 week on Tuner and bought the piping from Tuner Imports. Was installed by me and a padna.
After i was thinking what else could i do to improve performance and not too costly. I researched strut bars.
I found these links to be useful and decided that it would be worth it.
So i bought the Front Upper from Tuner Imports once again.
With the car on the floor i started to loosen the bolts holding up the shocks. But as usual there just had to be one bolt that gave me trouble, it rounded out. my father took it to the mechanic for an oil change (yes i know i can do this myself) and put it in while it was there.
Surprisingly i felt more a bigger cornering difference than i expected.
The last thing i did was change the stock 14" rims.
I bought a used set of Enkei Rims from a guy on tuner.
It cost me $1900
They had to be repaired though.
The repairs cost me $450 for 3 of the rims.
I also did over the paint back to the previous colour of Black.
This cost me $350 in a paint shop in Balmain.
Basically it cost me $2700
I didnt have much money for tires so a friend suggested i see if i get some foreign used tires.
I got two pairs, 2 different brands, and 2 different widths.
Pair Bridgestone Potenzas RE050 225/45/17
Treadwear 140
pair Hankook Ventus (cant remember which ones) 215/45/17
Treadwear 280
Originally the Ventus were in the front but i was told to put the wider ones in front as its FWD. With the Ventus in front there was no rubbing but now with the 225's in front it rubs sometimes.
Hopefully soon i will change the back also to 225's.
(Previous tyres were 195/60/14 btw)
Next i plan to buy Tein Springs or Coilovers and then do over exhaust.
Any other ideas that may be able to help me?
Pics of what was done already to follow. |
