wagonrunner, what's your engine rpm at 80km/h and 5th gear?...I would be around 2300rpm then. Reason I ask, is that it seems that my speedo reads more since I installed the gearbox, or could it be just the acceleration feeling Confused Confused

Suzuki Sportsman,
didn't manage to check the 80k.
but in 5th, 60k was 1600rpm, 17k was approx 1800. thinking 2300 may be a lil high for 80k, but will check. oho, this was along wrightson road (flat surface).

sigh.
it's been throwing some oil through the oil fill hole, past the oil cap.
changed caps last tuesday, after checking crankcase vents, and pressure testing (180psi avg across the 4), after the 3rd cap. problem seemed to have gone away.
noticed the cap moist tonight, and a little oil around hole, and on underside of hood.
also noticed my temp gauge was jumping today.
checked to see if it was a cluster or sender problem, and after confirming the cluster is not at fault, by seeing with my data cable (69-73°. normal range is 75-83°).
i'm wondering if it's the coolant temp sensor, or the thermostat causing my engine to run hotter, and a side effect being the oil seepage.

right now i'm waiting on the engine to cool, to check the thermostat.

Well, my hands are too big to fit in the limited space between master cylinder, power steering lines, and head, to remove the thermostat.
So back by the mech.

changed, crank seals, belts, power steering high pressure hose two days ago, so far no leaks.

Vivek, 80km/h = 2000rpm in 5th confirmed, with my car at least.

Cool, thanks. Looks like my gearbox has different ratios. I believe it came from a B13.

mine came out of a B14, but could have come originally from any model.

what tire size you running?
i'm 205/60/14.
and my OEM size seems to be 155/80/13 (155/SR/13) from what i've seen online.
according to here http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp, Speedometer Difference: 4.041% too slow.

check your's, your OEM is 165/80/13

I had 215/60R14 ;(24.16" diameter) on all fours. Since I flatspot the fronts at dex, replaced the fronts with 205/60R14; (23.68" diameter), as that was the only available 14" I was getting at the time.

Checking the japanese Owner's manual, OEM tire could have been 165SR13 or 175/70R13 ;(22.66" diameter).

Whenever I replace tires (probably by end of year), i'll go with 195/60R14 ;(23.21" diameter).

The oem size tire for the oem 14x5.5 rim is 185/65R14 ;(23.47" diameter).

new issue, water loss.
can't find any leaks, cooling system was pressure tested.
engine was compression tested with same results as before.
changed radiator cap, haven't located a new thermostat to try as yet. water pump seems dry.
but after almost any typical run and the engine cools down. the overflow bottle decreases by "a chubby bottle", 250ml. i don't understand why only after it cools.
very annoying. as it means I am checking that after almost every run to see if it's getting worse, and to ensure the overflow is kept to the max level.
