Ive been refining the tune over the past 10 days or so. i Have tuned the fuel a bit more agressively. The car is now spooling in the high 12s hitting about 11.5/6 @ full boost, which is as off tonight tuned to about 25psi.
The afr holds a 11.4 throughout the rpm band.
I have also adjusted timing in the low load/ high rpm regions to solve some issues of knock on shifts I was having. Here is a 1st - top of 4th (110mph) log I did 2 days or so ago with a passenger in the car... boost was set to 23-21psi. The rpm is wavy in 1st bcuz of wheelspin.

Nice work, good to see that you're going for proper reliability and drivability rather than "just" power tuning for big numbers. Would love to see what the torque curve looks like. _________________ Drags, Circuit, Solodex, Rally, Karting, the Shows, the Girls, the Car you drive...

^ if dyno timing wasnt so expensive I would do a run now... but i think i will retune on meth before I go back on the dyno again.
The current tune is much more agressive thru peak tq. feel like a further 30-40wtq _________________ I need more NOS |

So here is a comparison of the tune we had on the dyno vs the tune now:
Boost was set at 26psi tapering to 22 by 7.5k.... still on 100% pump gas

Very nice set-up.
Car is making decent power.
If i remember correctly the pistons were standard bore? Was the block honed to drop these in?
If a hone was used what type?
I was thinking of going with forged rods on stock pistons because the pistons are said to be able to handle circa
500bhp with the rods being the weakpoint. That way also you would not have to bore or hone the cylinders to
properly match clearance for forged pistons.
Any insight? Thanks. |

the honing work was done by ravy singh's machine shop. I can remember the type of hone, sorry. Clearence was set to 0.004"
u are correct in that the rods are really the weak link. in my case i had some piston damage caused by pinging due to crappy local gas. Once your pistons are in good condition, u can get away with running stock pistons, but just keep a check on ure egts when u start pushing for power. _________________ I need more NOS |

Would recommend a hone and drop in pistons/rods at standard bore? Or is it better to bore and go oversize pistons so that you can match piston to wall clearances better?
Someone on MLR said that the Evo5 cannot just swap in forged rods because either the piston or the rod is not able to be machined to fit the floating pin. Any insight on this? |

i dont know of any local machine shops i would trust to go oversize really. I would get buschur or ams to build a short block and ship it in. In my case i opened the engine and checked the clearences before hand and made a call that i could get away with std. size.
I dont know about the evo5 swap. _________________ I need more NOS |

What pistons/rod combo did you use? Can you tell me a little more about it and point me to a price?
Thanks. |

What was the mileage on the engine before the pistons/rods were dropped in? |
