HEADS UP!... Thanks to Haywire for the info. Bullet this one's for you.
This started off as a post on "wtk Best Way To 500whp." but was too good to leave as is.
This needs its own thread. So here goes...
VERY early days yet... but it looks like "Something Wicked This Way Comes!"
Buschur Racing wrote: | The FP EvoRED is the latest... direct replacement turbo upgrade.
The stock manifold and 02 housing are able to be re-used without any modification.
The EvoRED features a 56 lbs. Compressor wheel and a larger turbine wheel.
On a completely built car on the Buschur Racing Mustang Dyno this turbo put down
530whp/463trq on Race gas.
The EvoRED will come... as a complete turbo.
Includes a 10.5 hotside and new OEM wastegate actuator.
An upgraded high boost wastegate actuator is an option. |
Yup, FP EvoRED turbo is out. VERY limited production and still in "Development Mode" as far
as tuning is concerned but eventually may be a "bolt-on" 500+ WHP turbo for 2.0 4G63's.
David Buschur wrote: | This is the dyno sheet from today of Trent's car.
BR 2 liter
BR Stage 3 head
BR COP
BR double pumper
1000 cc injectors
BR ported exhaust manifold
FP Red turbo
BR 3" turbo back
AEM EMS
Exedy triple disc
BR battery kit
BR upper and lower 2.5" i/c pipes
This is a full build up in other words. The car ran 10.0 at 142 mph on a GT35r kit.
The car now has the stock appearing red on it.
Initial dyno results seem promising. Peak boost was 30.0 psi.
Dyno'd on Shell 93 octane fuel. AFR's mid 11's.

440 WHP... 383 WTQ... Peak Boost: 30psi... on 93 octane PUMP GAS!...
Pay attention R. Mutt!
Sanctifier wrote: | IMHO I'd wait for at least 9-12 months before buying one... I would wait for an HTA version.
For the time being FP EvoRED is a plain bearing turbo. Peak torque is still
VERY high at 5500 rpm so it may be VERY "laggy" but with more R&D it has potential.
________ COMP. HOUSING __ COMP. WHEEL _______ TURBINE HOUSING __ TURBINE WHEEL __
EvoRED ___ Evo 9 '16G' ___ (specs. n.a.) / 56 lb./min _____ 10.5 sq. cm _____ larger (size n.a.)
EvoGREEN _ Evo 9 '16G' __ 5-blade / 69mm / 47 lb./min ___ 10.5 sq. cm _____ 11-blade (size n.a.) |
Let's see how long it takes for them to develop an HTA version.

^ ^ ^ Data... Data!... DATA!
BTW Bullet IMHO an FP HTA EvoRED turbo is an even better candidate for a 2.3 stroker kit.
If a 4G63 has to be rebuilt anyway, there's absolutely NO reason not to build a "Street Stroker."
Sanctifier wrote: | No Water-Meth Injection necessary unless you feel like some extra power or more "insurance"...
No empty Nitrous bottles to refill...
Torque and Power ALWAYS on tap... |
IMHO high RPM 2-litres may be perfect for circuit cars and drag competition... but I'll take
a low-rpm, "Street Stroker" instead.
BTW keep the super-expensive AEM EMS... Make mine an OEM "reflash."
FP needs more R&D on new compressor/turbine wheels though. Still too much lag IMHO.
Early days yet. Still a long way to go. Let's see if "HTA" and reflash tuning can get
Peak Torque BELOW 4500 rpm and less lag with a slightly different combination of parts.

470whp @ 26psi on a STOCK ENGINE with add-ons
This just in from Robert Young, owner of Forced Performance... Thanks Haywire.
ForcedPerformance wrote: | I know our car isnt necessarily a big time race car or anything, but we do use it to develop the turbos we offer. Recently we took it to a Dynojet 224 AWD dyno after a trip to the dragstrip. We got a best of 11.3 @ 124mph out of it which I was pretty happy with. Groc (Scott Evans, our resident shaman) cursed me openly for not driving better, but we managed to get kicked out of the track anyway since we have a childseat instead of a rollbar or 5pt harness. Car weight was 3325 that night and once the sun went down the temps really started dropping, I think it got down to 90F. The point of the dyno was to see how much power it was making when it was at the track, how much power it was making to do 124mph.
First off, dont assume that you will get our results. Like they say at the hair club for men results may vary. Secondly, this car runs 100 octane UL exclusively, which is my second choice of fuel after E85 which I do not have good access to any longer.
Could we run more boost on 100UL? Yes. Can we go any faster at the track? No, we are illegal. Do we want to crank up the boost and go faster? No, not on this stock engine. I want to save this numbers matching motor for my golden years. I have a somewhat scarce 2006 EVO9 RS, and I wish I had 2. Could we do as well on 93 octane fuel? I dunno, maybe, probably, does the shaw sleep in lee harveys grave? But I may never know. I can afford 100 UL and that is what my car likes to drink when she goes out for a drive.

Padna, I can only "dream and dribble" about E85 in T&T. I'll have to settle for a
Water-Methanol Injection kit instead... better than nothing I suppose. _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |

I just read the thread... DAMN! I'd love to run that thing on the street with a stroker.
Looking forward to 9sec9's take on tuning for low-end torque and for someone to run it on
an unported 2.3 stroker with "93" pump gas, smaller injectors and Water-Meth injection.

UPDATE: Looks like the EvoRED is now an even bigger threat to the Tomei ARMS-M7960.
Rumour out of the Forced Performance camp on evolutionm.net talks about a "revised" EvoRED with a huge
compressor housing. Seems that this reduces/eliminates surge and increases top-end power potential even more.
More info later... _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |

^ ^ ^ destroke engine... If you mean a 2.1 litre 4G64 block + 4G63 crank + custom rods...
The biggest problem with that is... $$$$. A 2.3 stroker kit is much cheaper, isn't it?
If I could afford a stroker kit for a daily driver, IMHO I would aim for capacity rather than ultra high RPM. _________________ Walk softly... and carry a BIG stick! |

^ all you need is a 4G64 Block and its Crank which is cheap for now until a few bamboo heads find out about this thread everything works back from the 4G63. |

UPDATE: With all the talk about the new 73HTA EvoGREEN turbo, here's the latest on the FP EvoRED.
hanahawaiian @ evom.net wrote: | What of FP plan to HTA RED? |
BLKCarbonEVO @ evom.net wrote: | I talked to FP and they said that the Red already has an HTA wheel in it. I thought the same thing! Good question! |
BLKCarbonEVO @ evom.net wrote: | The HTA green has a 73mm HTA compressor wheel, enabling it to flow 54-56 lbs/min. FP said that on the 2.0 with Magnus IM and ported HTA Green and ported Stock Manifold they saw 56lbs a min. Wonder what it would flow with head work and a sick Full-Race Stock twin scroll header! lol
The EvoRED does have the 76mm HTA compressor wheel. It was the very first HTA turbo that FP made. After that they did the HTA35R, HTA30R etc... The Red that FP played with at the end of the developmental stage on a 100mm (stroker) crank setup flowed 64 lbs/min on 36 lbs of boost then tappered to 28-29lbs of boost at 7600rpms. That setup put down over 550whp/500wtq on a mustang dyno.
So yes they both have HTA wheels; FP made the green for stock bottom end guys wanting a 450hp turbo. The only dif between the HTA Green and Red is the 73mm and 76mm compressor wheels. Hope that answered your question |
So it seems that the choices for a 2.0L boils down to the following...
Quote: | Street/AutoX.... = Gen 1 EvoGREEN. = 400+ WHP.
Street/AutoX.... = 73HTA EvoGREEN = 450+ WHP.
Street/Circuit... = 76HTA RED........... = 500+ WHP.
*EDIT* Drags.. = 82HTA BLACK....... = 550+ WHP. |
