Yamaha is dropping no less than 9 world premiere models on the 39th Tokyo Motor Show coming up later this month. Of special note to us is the Gen-Ryu hybrid motorcycle prototype (damn!) which combines the YZF-R6 600cc engine with a high output, high efficiency electric motor. Combine that with some fat wheels and that long wheelbase and youve got a machine said to perform and handle like a 1,000cc class machine. Eco-power not workin it for ya? Ok, well consider it has a vehicle-to-vehicle distance warning system, a cornering light system for a little night time knee-scraping action, and a noise cancelation system which is said to allow for an intercom, voice navigation, hands-free cellphone calls, and music player damn impressive if it really works! And just for kicks, how about an LCD so you can watch those cagers mouth what the as you roll on by.

For the longest while I've been wanting to see them build this bike from the Anime "Akira"

Suzuki also came with the G-Strider:
http://www.mcnews.com.au/NewBikeCatalogue/2004/Suzuki/G-Strider/Intro.htm
Is it a scooter? Is it a motorcycle? It looks like both, kind of. The riding position with the feet pointing forward and the automatic transmission (CVT = Continouosly Variable Transmission) are features that reminds more of a scooter than a motorcycle. Actually you can shift manually (electrically) if you want to, by pushing buttons, similar to the Burgman 650. The saddle, the footpegs, the windshield and the back rest are adjustable for best comfort. The engine is a 916cc parallel twin, the power output not mentioned.
Yes, it looks like a bike from a science fiction movie but nothing on the G-Strider says that the model could not be launched as it is. It is not full of exclusive electronics or computers that would make the bike too expensive to build for masses. Yes, it's a concept bike like the B-King was but many people think it won't take long until we see a scooter/motorcycle hybrid like the G-Strider hit the streets.
Suzuki G-Strider
Overall Length: 2 445 mm (96.3 in)
Overall Width: 710 mm (28.0 in)
Overall Height: 1 170 mm (26.1 in)
Seat Height: 615 mm (24.2 in)
Wheelbase: 1 800 mm (70.9 in)
Dry Weight:
Engine type: Liquid-cooled 916 cc Parallel twin, DOHC, 8 valves.
Tyres: 140/60R17, 220/40R18
Yhe G-Strider looks much alike a vehicle used on the Japananese animated film called Akira. Take a look if you're interested (it's all in Japanese but you can enjoy some flash movies): http://www.akira2001.com or
