Advice on first bike?

What is the procedure of obtaining my motorcycle permit...? (Anyone knows who does training??

^^^Got a drivers permit already? well then it's as easy as going to License office, paying for a learner's permit then setting the date for the riding test (all of which can be done in the same day, Test and endorsement included) No Regulations. If you never had a DP, then the process will be longer including the regulation test.. The test is done on a scooter you have to rent.....simple stuff; left hand signal, right hand signal, left hand eight, right hand eight, stop signal. (remember that you have to use your right hand for all the signals eh)
I usually reccomend Horsie for training 750-8000

and here I was thinking gridlock / crawling traffic on the highway would have made it easy.........but sometimes sitting in traffic for 2 / 3 hours can be tiring too........I was thinking along the lines of saving time by slowly picking my way between lanes.....

Despite the cool look and the easy access through traffic there is a very sombre but real side of the bike world too eh.....death.
Mistakes do happen, and when the odds are constantly against you a mistake usually ends in death. A good friend of mine lost his life yesterday in a kinda unfortunate freak accident...he rode off from a bar with his side stand down and in taking a corner the bike catapulted sending him into a post...severe internal injuries.

I lost a friend some years back to a pothole on the way to maracas.........dunno if u k now him....he was known as Speedo, real name Ashmead...used to run Cafe Baku pub in La Romain

^^^^Side stand wasn't loose, but when you hear the full story you'll realise that it was a mistake on his part...a deadly one at that.
Most newer bikes come with a side stand saftey switch, which shuts off the bike if you try to put in a gear while the side stand is down. It's designed to prevent accidents like that. But this guy Foster and his riding pals used to disable the switch....don't ask me for what reason. And no, he wasn't a 'just come out' rider eh, he has been riding since before I was in junior sec (i'm 36 now)....
So accidents and bikes are no respecter of age or experience ...
just Sunday gone a dog ran out of a side street in front of my bike while I was doing around 200kph....luckily he moved an foot closer to the pavement and I was able to swerve around him.....My buddy behind wasn't that lucky since there was another dog following the first one... Sad

minor injuries though...
And that Speedo, his name sounds familliar.... did he broad side a Frontier avoiding the pothole?
While a bike is made to ride spirited, it must be done so with all care and due attention. Despite the fact that saftey gears do save lives, there isn't really much room for mistakes on bikes.

i did my test in south....was pretty basic....have the license a few months now....never got on a bike since, cuz cant afford one at the moment Laughing

most driving schools do the tests.....simple stuff.......

my test was 2 figure 8's in any direction, and then riding around the pole, that ppl use in the 3-point turn, a couple times. had to do a pulling off (unsafe to overtake) hand-signal and a stopping hand-signal.......thats it, and it was done on an automatic scooter.....only thing is that if u turn too much the small wheel can tuck and cause a fall..... Laughing

thinking of getting a Yamaha WR250 in a couple months....looking to go 4-stroke fuel injected........ and then maybe a year after get either an R6 or a ducati monster Mr. Green
