The Hero II which went missing on Sunday morning. The 27ft-long pirogue was tied onto other boats at Store Bay.
A racing boat named the Hero II went missing yesterday after the Great Race in Tobago.
According to the owner of the boat, Hero Boodram, the 27 ft-long pirogue, with a 200 horse power Yamaha engine was docked at Store Bay on Saturday night, with numerous other vessels.
However when the crew went to board the boat yesterday morning it was nowhere to be found.
A concerned Boodram told Newsday, � The Hero II is a pirogue which was modified for racing. I believe it was stolen as it is a target and preferred boat among fishermen.�
Boodram said, the 200 horse power engine is only three weeks old and cost him some $200,000.
�My boat was tied and anchored to a boat belonging to the Trinidad and Tobago Power Boats Association. It is strange that my boat would go missing and others would not,� Boodram said.
The Hero II has won three consecutive times in the pirogue class in the Great Race.
The matter was reported to the Scarborough Police and the Coast Guard.
Boodram and others launched their own search for the vessel yesterday, without success.
