Yup, I was going to do the same mod myself but not going there anymore for safety reasons.

Something to think about. It might be easier to just use a convenient "cross over" pipe AFTER
the down-pipe or "cat" to get over onto the left side. Saves almost the same weight as right
side installation. Just more difficult to fabricate without losing too much ground clearance.

maybe a heatshield will do the trick o_O

quick question tho guys, I'm assuming that injectors can be used interchangeably on the EVO's, i think the IV came with 440cc and from the V-IX was 550's am i correct? what i wanted to know is if those injectors can fit on the GSR fuel rail with no hassles? I have it in mind to convert my ECU, MAF sensor, and injectors to USDM EVO 8 stuff, so i can take advantage of ECUFlash tuning.

i also wanted to ask you guys opinion on whether the EVO 8 ECU will work granted that i am still tiptronic. As far as i know there is a TCU in my car (tranny control unit), which is linked to the ECU but is a separate unit. Think it'll work? I am skeptical, but maybe I will just try to plug in an EVO ECU and see how the car reacts.

First of all, as I had two boxes beside each other I can confirm 99% that only thing different on the casing of the evo box and gsr box is bellhousing, I was first going to just buy bellhousing from evo box and use that, but it was too complicated so i just went with evo4 box.

Secondly, luvnish, evo 4 injectors are 510's low impedance(?), evo5-8 I think, are 550's, low impedance too(?), the gsr ones are 390's and they are high impedance(?), the reason i put ? all over the place is because i know evo and gsr injectors are different impedance, but not sure which are which, soooo if you want to change injectors to evo ones on your car, you'll have to use evo ecu too, and to do that you need evo AFM and some other stuff I think...better to just buy brand new injectors of same impedance as your gsr ones, like sard for example could be a good choice.

oops, didn't read your post luvnish... Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed .

Better to use evo 7 ecu I think...umm to change injectors you'll need to change the rail and fuel pressure regulator too.

As of using it with the tiptronic, depends how the ecu and tcu are connected.

regarding the petrol thing...it's higly unlikely petrol would go under the guard and leak on the exhaust, and even if that happens the temperature of the exhaust on the back would not exceed 50 degrees celsius or so as I could touch it with no probs at all which means petrol can't light up from that!!! That could happen if you drip petrol on the exhaust manifold, but not the back i reckon...

so essentially what you are saying is that with the GSR bell housing, an Evo gearbox can work? what made it too complicated?

i'm not too worried about the car going up in flames either. Twisted Evil

Why would i have to change the rail? what rail can be used? i have no idea but i'm doubting that the evo rail could fit, but maybe u know better.

aye Sanctifier, guess what i found today, an older model GSR box in Trinidad, yeah older model, i know, that sucks. still trying to find the CM5A box, i just got an idea where i MIGHT be able to find a manual GSR bellhousing in Grenada so i will compare that to the EVO5 gearbox i have here at home (which isn't mine).

Yeah, one of the guys from our club fitted evo injectors to his cm5a, and he said he had to use old galant vr4 rail(not sure why, i personally never tried), plus for evo injectors you'd need the injector resistor too as i didn't find one in cm5a when was doing the conversion.

Too complicated was because I'd have to disassemble my box to fit another bellhousing, which I wasn't confident doing...

Nipe,

What progress have u made recently with the car?, how is it running? What progress have u made with the brakes?

Sanctifier,

How is your project coming along? What parts so far for your TME conversion have you collected, and what else do you still have to get?

Had exams at uni, so didn't have a chance to do much, just sort of found a good setting for the fuel regulator, with the brakes I'm still searching for parts to do that...Can't get used to that evo7 computer, sounds like it's really smart as it learns quite a lot of stuff as I found out, but yeah car running a lot smoother now, nice when booost comes on, bloody fast, but I think gsr was better for town..but not as fast on the same boost:)))

what else do you still have to get?... Room to work... plenty more $$$ for split-A/C for ToyRoom... and Time. Smile
All projects stopped until renovations are finished in a few months.

Quote:
ToyRoom: 1) 17' x 24' attached Garage (incl. Wash bay and temporary Sandblasting &/OR Spray-booth.)
------------: 2) 14' x 16' Machine shop & Tool room.
------------: 3) 12' x 44' Metalwork/Welding + Woodwork shop + Toilet + Plant Nursery for my wife.
------------: incl. 5' x 13' Quiet Room for Air compressor, water pumps & (eventually) Cyclone sawdust filter.
------------: 4) Gym and laundry above #3... I have to lose 9 kg to increase Evo's "Power:Weight" Ratio. Laughing

parts so far for your TME conversion... All I need are an Evo 6 RS diff and rear axles. I have
everything else. (Over 3 years "collecting.") If I can't find them I'll use 4wd 1800 GSR
helical rear LSD & axles (& spacers) with E6 RS rear suspension.

Shocked Shocked Shocked

Very nice design. That's only for personal use or do you intend to use it also for some commercial work?

Is it really recommended to have a quiet room/nursery so close to a workshop with respect to safety and sound considerations?

quiet room/nursery so close to a workshop... It's called a "Quiet Room" because most of
my VERY noisy equipment will be in it. Don't want any hassles from the neighbours.
... and eventually...

BTW it's a plant (seedling) nursery for my wife to use for her garden and to store
garden equipment... The kids are in their mid/early twenties. Laughing
